Maria goes in search of top ranking points in Llanelli

PLYMOUTH’S England darts International will be chasing ranking points this weekend when she competes in both the BDO Gateway International Open and Welsh Masters at the Gateway Resort, Llanelli, South Wales.

Both tournaments, which carry Category A ranking points, boast a total prize fund of £6,200 and the talent of the competitors rank very high indeed.

TOUGH ASK: Maria O'Brien has a tough ask and faces stiff opposition when she competes in both the BDO Gateway International Open and Welsh Masters in Llanelli at the weekend .

The International Open will be competed for tomorrow and in Maria’s group alone is Aileen De Graaf (World Ranked No.3), Trina Gulliver the ten times world champion, Fallon Sherrock the 2018 BDO World Trophy winner, Sharon Prins, world ranked No.7, and Lorraine Winstanley who went to No.1 in the world rankings earlier in the year but is now at No.2.

Maria will face Nikki Goldsmith of Wales in her opening match, a player who she defeated recently in the England National Singles at Selsey, with the winner having to play Fallon Sherrock for a place in the last 16.

The following day Maria will compete in the Welsh Masters and faces Paula Jacklin in the opening round with the winner going on to meet the experienced Welsh international Jan Robbins, in the round of 32, a player who has represented her country 59 times, winning 42 of them.
