THE biggest and most popular darts competition, the one that every darts player in Plymouth and the surrounding areas wants to win, has again been launched for the 34th year.

Champion of Champions has helped to raise thousands of pounds over the years for local charities and hopefully this year will be no exception.

Benefiting from this year’s competition will be St Luke’s Hospice, which is an independent charity providing specialist care and support to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses in Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall.

JUST CHAMPION: Simon Stevenson will be defending his Champion of Champions title and will be bidding to win the title for an unprecedented sixth time.

Last year, the charity cared for over 3,530 people, provided by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists to patients and their families, at home, Derriford Hospital, or at the charity’s specialist unit at Turnchapel.

To enter, simply visit www.plymouthdarts.org.uk, leaving your name and donation.

All play-offs will be on Sunday evenings, with the format being the best of five legs of 501, flying start, and every care has been taken to ensure that there is no clash with county weekends.

Games played at the grand final itself will be extended and the bust rule will apply throughout the competition.

The preliminary round will take place on Sunday September 23 and subsequent rounds will follow on October 7, October 28, November 11.

The Grand Final of both the men’s and ladies’ competitions and cheque presentation to the charity will take place on Sunday December 9 at the Brookside Social Club, Honicknowle.

The closing date is Friday, September 7, so don’t delay, get those entries in now and aim not only for the Champion of Champions title, but also to aid St Luke’s Hospice.
