Status quo as leading duo both take maximum points
IT is still very competitive at the top of the Monday Premier League with only five points separating the top four sides.
The leading duo both secured maximum points with tabletoppers Brewery Tap winning 11-0 against Steam Packet A and second placed Victory Inn A coming out on top away at Indian Inn B.
Victory’s Scott Lawrey and Tony Conn won their doubles in style, securing the deciding 601 leg in 18 darts while in the individual phases Indian’s Jordan Searle took Tony Tasker to 2-2, aided by a checkout of 120, before Tasker clinched the fifth leg in 18.
Third placed Porters A remain in the mix after defeating Bluebird 10-1 and had Scott Wapshott (100x12) emerging a 3-1 winner in 15, 19 and 18.
Steam Packet B were good value for their 9-2 win against Octagon A and in a solid singles success, Alec Turner won 3-1 in 17, 18 and 19.
Quinton Taylor also won 3-1, aided by two maximum throws and was well supported by leading marksman Neil White (100x16).
Prince Maurice B defeated City Social 9-2 while their stablemates, Prince Maurice A, halted the progress of Maritime when beating them 8-3 in a fixture that produced five maximums, two coming from Glenn Halford.
Kieran Burns (100x14) was Maritime’s lone winner in the singles but the best encounter saw Micky Organ (pictured) for the Eggbuckland side edge out Dan Scott (100x10) 3-2 in 18, 16 and 14, with no fewer than 19 ton plus throws between them.
The Tradesman defeated Ford 9-2 while Ash Harris (100x12) top scored for Cherry Tree B in their 8-3 defeat of Porters B.
Plympton Cons returned from Hyde Park Social Club with an 8-3 victory while Indian Inn A also won on the road and secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer at Victory Inn B.
Mike Whatley emerged a 3-0 winner with his best legs coming in 16 and 17 while Danny Bull won 3-2, aided by a leg in 13.
A well contested fixture between Octagon B and Firkin Scholar went to 5-5 and the last singles stood at 2-2 before Dave Cotton won the final leg for “Scholar” despite two maximums and a 16-darter from Octagon’s Paul Barclay.
The fixture also produced the week’s highest checkout when Simon Washington finished at the first time of asking from 133 while other notable outshots were achieved by Annie Lane (117), Matt Nicholson (115), Scott Wapshott (111), Paul Hendy (108), Tony Conn (103), Pete Cornish (102), Paul Bowen (100).
