Top performance from Maritime in win over The Staddy

AN outstanding fixture between fourth placed The Staddy and Plymouth City Super League leaders Maritime A, saw the tabletoppers consolidate their position with an 8-3 victory.

The contest produced 97 throws of a ton or more, 24 of which were 140s and seven maximums which included braces for both Scott Lawrey and The Staddy’s Warren Gordon.

Lawrey also caught the eye when emerging a 3-1 winner in the individual phases, taking legs in 16, 18 and 19 and was well supported by Dave Matthews who hit a 13-darter in a 3-0 success and top scorer Neil White (100x13) who also won 3-1 aided by two 17-darters.

Second-placed Porters defeated Maritime C 9-2 with the highlight being a 3-0 singles victory for Mike Beard (pictured) which he won on 16, 13 and 16 for a three-dart average of 100.20.

The Bluebird defeated Victory Inn 7-4 and had Glenn Halford as their talisman when hitting three maximums, two of them coming in a 3-0 singles victory which included a leg in 13.

The Tradesman won the early exchanges to lead visitors Octagon Social Club 3-0 but then trailed 6-5, before Lee Rodmell and Paul Bowen both won 3-1 for the hosts to prevail by the narrowest of margins.

Porters’ John Mann threw the week’s highest outshot with a finish of 126 while other notable checkouts were recorded by Simon Kelly (116), Dave Johns (116), John Sturdy (109), Paul Bowen (106), Steve Brocklesby (105), Neil White (104), Mike Nancholas (104), Glenn Austin (103), Phil Hoyle (102), Lee Rodmell (101), Paul Wells (100).
