Burns and Wells inspire City Social A to new heights
CITY Social won in style when inflicting on Office B a 13-0 drubbing and are the new leaders of the Plymouth and District Friday League with a five-point advantage.
Glyn Wells (100x13) and Kieran Burns (pictured) secured their doubles in 30 darts (33.37) before Burns bettered that in the individual phases and set a new mark for the season’s top game when he was successful in 29 darts (34.52).
Previous tabletoppers Office A won 7-6 when hosting Octagon Social Social but were leading 6-0 before they imploded in the singles with only Andrew Nation successful.
Porters A won the last two individual games in order to edge out Queen & Constitution 7-6 while their stablemates Porters C were also successful and won 9-4 on their visit to the Royal Naval Arms.
The Tradesman remain undefeated after securing a 10-3 victory when hosting Firkin Scholar while Pennycross Social Club suffered their first reverse of the campaign when beaten 8-5 by Indian Inn A.
Paul Gavican, Steve Ebsworth and Pete James were prominent for the winners and clinched their trebles game in 35 darts (28.60).
Dartsworld B won 8-5 on their visit to Queens Dock while Mainstone Social Club took all available points from visitors Firkin Doghouse.
Weston Mill Oak Villa were 12-1 winners at Porters B for whom Natasha Lofthouse saved the whitewash while Ker St Social Club won for the first time when defeating Brewery Tap 9-4, buoyed by a 36-dart singles success from Liam Cambell (27.81).
The Fawn won by the narrowest of margins away at Dartsworld A but not before the hosts had Wayne Hobbs recording the week’s top checkout of 125.
Other notable outshots were achieved by: Pete James (120) and Ian Targett (102).
