Catch Him If You Dan

Danny Allen's thirteen ton plusses for Victory A wasn't bettered at all in the Plymouth City Super League, but he still ended on the wrong side of an 8-3 defeat to league favourites Octagon.

That owed much to the form of Neil White and Lee Hellings who both reached thirteen tons also, whilst John Mann added eleven.

Mann (26.29) went on to defeated Allen in the singles by then narrowest of 3-2 margins with a 14 darter from Mann besting Allen's leg in 15 and one of two maximums for Allen's team in a riposte that ended in futility.

A closer game than the score line suggests saw all of the first eight games decided by a single leg shootout in a spell in which the Stonehouse team built a 3-0 lead despite a 180 from Mark Shears to no avail.

The Honicknowle team pegged back the next two to leave the game nicely poised before Tom James was defeated by Octagon's Dave Pethick 3-2.

That was in spite of a marvellous performance by James where he reached eleven tons and won his two legs in 17 and 18 darts.

Shears then defeated Hellings with the help of an 18 darter and a 104 checkout before Octagon reeled off the next four to take the game away from their opponents with ten unanswered legs in that dominant spell.

White (25.47) produced a brace of 18 dart legs in a 3-0 win, as well as the highest checkout of the match with a 115.

Dave Matthews wrapped up a fine win from a once precarious position with a 17 dart leg in his 3-0 win to give the Octagon title tilt a generous push in the right direction.

Three generations of Bull turned on the style in Raffles local derby 10-1 demolition job of Hyde Park with Danny Bull hitting thirteen ton plusses, Harry Bull scoring eleven and Eddie Bull finishing 80 in one visit.

George Beckett continued his good form with twelve tons in a 7-4 win for Steampacket over Victoria in which both Marc Webber and Kayleigh Adams checked out 89 for the joint highest of the contest.

Mick Bingham was the Plymstock team's most prominent marksman with eleven tons overall; helping his team recover from 3-0 and 7-2 down to a respectable score line.

Fawn A came away from their trip to Kings Arms A with an 8-3 win featuring a Simon Stevenson masterclass of scoring with twelve tons.

Finishes of 128 and 113 as well as two maximums accented that mammoth total whilst Stevenson bag himself an 18 dart leg in a 3-0 singles win.

Stevenson's spectacular finishing somewhat overshadowed a superb 111 three dart combination outshot from Dan Bunney that proved critical to a 3-2 personal success.

Paddy Archibald's twelve tons top scored for the champions King Billy as they came away with a hard fought 8-3 win over Saltram.

Both Lee Doncaster and Antony Hayman reached eleven three figure scores in the match whilst the only maximum of the matchup was provided from the arm of Mark Yeoman.

Hayman was his usual consistent self in the individual phase with legs of 15 and 18 darts aiding him to a 3-0 win with teammate Paul Palmer producing the highest checkout of the week with a fine 138 kill.

After a surprisingly stuttering start from a talented Clifton team, the Greenbank outfit finally got their tungsten in order with a 7-4 win over Cherry Tree that saw Kev Seal top score with eleven tons.

One of those efforts was a 130 checkout from Seal whilst Dan Jewell added ten of his own to the scoreboard and Wayne Town produced the game's only maximum.

Despite ending the wrong side of a defeat, John Greatrex still had time to notch ten tons to his name in a game of two halves as the Pennycross team went 5-0 down before recovering four of the six singles.

Both Dave Hollow and Darren Smith reached eleven tons but still fell on the wrong side of a 7-4 defeat as Colebrook were downed by Victory B.

Smith's total was helped along by the only maximum of the game and a 116 checkout that bettered a 108 from teammate Steve Hiscox, who also added a 17 darter to his night's work.

The Victory success owed much to the form of Lewis Dare who reached ten tons for the evening for the team who could be surprise challengers for the league title if they can get all of their top players to show up.

A 9-2 win for Bluebird A over St Levans was dominated by ten tons from James Stoodley with the Compton player adding no fewer than three maximums to his total.

Stoodley's teammate Tony Teal bagged himself a maximum to make it four on the night for the team whilst a 119 checkout from Kev Rice was only beaten by a brilliant 125 from Stoodley.

Fawn B were beaten 7-4 by Kings B whose ruthless streak at the business end shone through thanks to a 99 checkout from Dave Johns and a 110 from Paul Carpenter.

As the score suggest, the Oreston team didn't have it all their own way as Mark Sargreant produced a 15 darter in his 3-1 win that also saw him hit the game's only maximum.

Jon Parsons 110 checkout was the only noteworthy contribution to a 10-1 win for Bluebird B over Duchy of Cornwall with the former now sitting second in the standings after three outings.
