Cold As Bryce, He Was Willing To Sacrifice

Del Bryce (37.07) had a fabulous run out in the Plymouth and District Friday Darts League as he set a new least number of darts mark with a 1001 leg in just 27 darts.

A brace of 180s and a finish of 108 during the leg that was ended in just nine visits was by far the best feat achieved during a 9-4 win for Brewery Tap over Tradesmans B.

Bryce's remarkable leg, only eight darts longer than the world record held by the late, great 1974 World Master Cliff "Ticker" Inglis, started with 81, 85, 87, 85 before 180, 100, 180 and 95 left 108, which was finished in three.

That magnificent effort blew away two other remarkable games from Shaun Williams and Kevin Evans respectively in a 7-6 defeat for the leaders Victory at home to King Billy.

Williams (27.81) checked the highest finish of the week with a 137 three dart combination to take his individual game in 36 darts.

That had earlier been usurped by Kevin Evans (30.33) who won his game in 33 darts whilst teammate Jordan Grimshaw notched himself the only maximum of the match.

This result, coupled with a 12-1 win for Tradesmans A over Mainstone, sees the title race swing in the favour of the Stonehouse team.

Richard Wheatley finished expertly from 90 in one visit whilst the only 180 of the match was scored by teammate Nick Dodd.

David Young's 110 finish wasn't enough to stop Queen and Constitution squandering a 6-3 lead over Devonport rivals Ker St B; who eventually won 7-6.

After winning the team game, the Ker St side succumbed in six of the next seven before the revival in the last four matchups was completed by Martin Dean in the final leg of the contest.

Jamie Sandford added the game's only 180 as his Grenville team were well beaten 11-2 away at Queens Arms whilst Pennycross managed a 9-4 success over Ker St A.

Kings Tamerton came away from their home game with Indian Inn with ten of the thirteen points on offer to take the spoils 10-3 whilst Octagon won by the same score line at home to Lugger.
