Cook & Dare Serve Up Classic

Two of the town's brightest darting stars, Andrew Cook and Lewis Dare, met in Octagon A's 8-3 Monday Premier League win over King Billy as the two produced world class darts.

Not one of the five legs last more than six visits to the board as the pair treated spectators to nineteen tons in the 3-2 win for Cook that included three maximums between the two county players.

Cook hit the lion's share of those maximums with two and won legs in 14, 17 and 18 darts to take the hard fought win which withstood ripostes from Dare of 14 and 17 darts.

The nine tons from Cook in that game help him to a fifteen three figure haul over the match whilst Dare added four more in the team games to his ten during the epic encounter to give him an overall total of fourteen.

One of those for Dare was a 116 checkout that beat teammate Lee Hellings' 100 checkout he hit during a doubles game with Dare that featured a 21 dart 601 leg for a 28.62 single dart average.

Hellings was Octagon's next highest scoring player with twelve tons whilst Alfie Ford and Simon Washington both bagged eleven tons each.

Ford also added his name to the 180 column whilst there was another from King Billy's Dave Harbin to make it five between the two sides.

Harbin joined teammate Matt Chegwin in winning a leg in 17 the pair having mixed fortunes as the former won 3-1 and the latter being edged 3-2.

Fourteen tons from George Beckett in a brilliantly crafted haul that featured finishes of 115 and 144 as well as a maximum helped his Cherry Tree B team to a 6-5 win over Bluebird A.

Both Shaune Kittle and Alan Masters were in good form for the defeated team as they both reached ten tons for their evening's work.

Kittle managed to take the notable scalp of Beckett in spite of the talented marksman hitting an 18 dart leg against the Compton man in a 3-2 reversal.

The Pennycross team went 4-0 up before being pegged back to 5-4 in the topsy-turvy affair which left the match result precarious from a seemingly unassailable position.

Mel Sharpe kept her team alive with a 3-1 win before Dave Lee held his nerve in the final tie of the match for a 3-0 win which was won with the help of a 120 checkout.

Dan Giles nailed fourteen tons but ultimately ended on the wrong side of an 8-3 loss for the Union Inn at home to the Indian Inn.

Giles' was narrowly defeated in the singles by Alan Rowe who showed something like his vintage form with a maximum and a crucial 18 dart leg in a 3-2 win.

Giles' teammate Nathan Langdon was also prominent for the defeated team with eleven tons whilst Danny Bull kept his name at the top of the individuals with a 3-0 win that contained a 17 darter.

Bull's teammate Lee Wyatt was also in good form with a 113 checkout during his 3-0 singles win that contributed to a successful night for the Stoke village outfit.

Darren Collis top scored with thirteen three figure scores but ended on the wrong side of a loss as Victory A were defeated by Bluebird C 6-5.

Despite the defeat, Collis joined Ryan Harris in hitting the only maximums of the evening whilst Chris Beale checked a fine 107 three dart combination out shot.

Ten tons for Glenn Halford made him the main protagonist in the win that came down to the final tie of the night; won by Halford's teammate Glenn Austin 3-1.

Scott Cook produced a scintillating performance for the Victory B in their 9-2 win over Octagon B that was capped by two 180s in an eleven ton plus haul.

Cook (30.67) also ripped through his 3-0 singles win; plundering 1503 points in just 49 darts with a brace of 17 dart legs and one in 15 contributing to that.

Cook's teammate Paul Gavican added a 180 of his own whilst the only noteworthy contribution for the defeated Stonehouse team was a 69 checkout for Ryan Ring.

An 11-0 win for leaders Tradesmans away at Brewery Tap extends their lead at the top to thirteen points after just eleven games.

Billy Evans 100 checkout and a 3-0 win for John Mann (25.05) that featured a 15 dart leg were the main highlights in the success that saw four games come down to a single leg shootout.
