Jack Of All Tons
Jack McMinn's remarkable nineteen ton plusses for Bluebird A led them to an 8-3 success over Cherry Tree B in the Monday Premier League.
McMinn added a leg in 17 darts to his evening's work whilst a Lewis Whitley 111 checkout was bettered only by Steve Daley's 140 for the defeated side.
Daley also added a 15 darter of his own whilst Whitley found himself a leg in 18 darts whilst Paul Barclay and Chris Edgcumbe had time to put their name onto the sheet as the evening's only 180 hitters.
Fred Goldsmith's sixteen three figure scores included checkouts of 136 and the highest of the week of 164 as champions Tradesmans secured an 11-0 win over Bluebird C.
Goldsmith also fired the only maximum of the match and was well supported in the win by John Mann who found a ton plus visit on no fewer than twelve times.
Mann's total was accented by his 107 checkout that was bettered by Andy Bates' 137 kill whilst Nick Perring's notable 106 three dart combo had to settle for the fifth best of the match.
A 13 darter from John Mann was joined by a leg in 16 from teammate Lee Agar as well as a quartet of 18 dart legs from Fred Goldsmith with two, and Jaden Whitting joining Mike O'Brien with a solitary win in six visits.
On what was a difficult night all around for the defeated side, Lee Roberts still managed to worry the marker with a 17 dart leg during his individual outing.
Scott Lawrey's fifteen ton plusses couldn't arrest Victory A's slide to a 7-4 defeat at the hands of Cherry Tree A, who were outscored in the 180 stakes by the defeated side.
Lawrey and his teammates Tony Tasker and Quinton Taylor made it three maximums to the away side's two as Paul Freeman joined stablemate Matt Nicholson in firing a sole effort each.
Freeman's for extended to the finishing section of the match as his 127 three dart combination out shot bested a 100 from Luke Johnson whilst Freeman fired legs in 16,17 and 16 darts in an individual success.
Lee Hellings and Jayden Dodd provided the heavy artillery for Octagon A with thirteen tons each during a 9-2 win over King Billy.
All maximums in the match fell to the defeated team as both of Antony Hayman and Dave Harbin added one each to their ten ton tallies whilst Andrew Cook made it a trio for the defeated side.
Two ton plus checkouts lit up the business end of the affair as Paul Hendy's 114 checkout settled for second best behind a 140 kill from Dodd.
Hendy's big finish was the cherry on the top of a total of three figures scores that topped out at a dectet whilst Hellings 13 darter was the only individual leg to better efforts in 14 and 16 from Hayman.
Paul Gavican's eleven three figure scores made a massive dent in the score line during the Victory derby that was won 10-1 by Victory B over Victory C.
Gavican's teammate Scott Cook heard 180 called after throwing no fewer than twice and Gavican's 106 kill was the best mustered by his B side.
The C team had Kirsty Whiting-O'Brien firing a 114 checkout to give her the best checkout of the match and there was two 14 dart legs for Cook.
Pete Cornish put away 130 at the first time of asking as Indian Inn got over the line by a 7-4 score against Bluebird B.
That Cornish effort was the only the only checkout of this particular match that bettered his teammate Lee Wyatt's 126 whilst Harry Bull's win was claimed with the help of an 18 darter.
