Mike Bas-set-ts The World Alight With Mammoth Checkout

Mike Bassett's 160 checkout claimed the highest of the week in the Steve Chapman 501 League, but even that wasn't enough to stop Fawn A from being downed 10-1 by their Fawn B rivals.

That win owed much to the form of John Mann who threw fourteen three figure scores throughout the match, including a 130 checkout that settled for second best.

Mann joined Bassett as one of seven 180 hitters in the game as Andy Bates, Jaden Whitting, Dave Matthews, Lee Agar and Bill Scannell all heard maximums called.

Agar's effort was one of eleven three figure scores whilst the best individual game went to Mann (27.83) who checked legs in 16 and 18 darts in his 3-0 win.

Mike Pearce threw eighteen three figure scores at Kings Arms but still found himself on the wrong side of an 8-3 defeat as his St Levans side were downed.

Tex Pearce was also in good nick with fourteen tons for the defeated team as the Pearce brothers ended the night on different ends of 3-2 individual scores.

Mike Pearce lost by that score line despite throwing 15 and 16 dart winning legs at opponent Paul Hendy whilst Tex Pearce bested Dave Johns by the odd leg in five thanks in part to a brace of 17 darters.

Matt Pearce joined Tex in hitting a maximum for their team whilst others were provided by Paul Palmer with a brace of maximums and a high checkout of 104 topping up his ten ton plusses.

Kyle Burden and Scott Cook were joint top scorers with thirteen tons a piece in King Billy's 9-2 win over Victory Hammers.

The comprehensive win saw Zak Burden throw eleven tons whilst Andrew Cook put ten tons on the scoreboard for the visitors.

Frankie Stout got himself a double of high checkout and maximum; checking a 102 three dart combination to go with a 180 that was added to by Scott Cook and Kieran Harris to make it three between the sides.

The match was littered with low numbers of darts; the best coming from Scott Cook (27.83) found a leg in 15 darts during his 3-0 win.

Zak Burden settled on 16 darts in his 3-2 win whilst Andrew Cook picked up a leg in 18 darts during a second 3-0 for the Cook brothers.

Close fought 6-5 win for Octagon over Victory A saw a player from each side throw thirteen tons in the match as Scott Lawrey and Robbie Bisgrove both managed that amount.

The pair pushed each other to achieving that total as they met in a singles that saw Bisgrove get the better of Lawrey by a 3-2 score line.

Bisgrove's legs in 14 and 18 darts helped decided the outcome of the point with Lawrey's 17 dart leg proving to not quite be enough in a high class encounter.

Bisgrove was one of five 180 hitters in the match; joining teammates Alfie Ford and Ralph Lancaster, as well as Kelvin Rowe and Paddy Archibald in achieving the feat.

The first six ties were decided by a solitary leg before Quinton Taylor's 18 dart leg contributed to a 3-0 win; a feat repeated twice by Archibald in his win by the same score.

After surrendering a 4-2 lead to fall behind 5-4, Ford and Simon Washington both finished on eleven tons to lead the Stonehouse side to victory.

Ford found what ended up to be a crucial 17 dart leg in a 3-2 win that left the match precariously tied at 5-5 before Washington gave his team the win in the final leg of the match for another 3-2 triumph.

Jason Pinkerton threw two 180s amongst nine other three figure scores to give him a personal total of eleven in Victory C's 9-2 win over Ker St.

The difference between Pinkerton's ton plus total and that of Mark Shears was the latter's one less maximum, still giving him double figures for his evening's work.

The opposition had Lewis Byrne in fine fettle with ten tons whilst Nick Bromley's 180 was the only one of it's kind for the defeated Devonport side.

Ten tons from Daniel Brazier gave Cherry Tree the platform to claim a 9-2 success over Duchy of Cornwall; two of those efforts coming in the form of maximums.

James Ewing's 110 checkout was only bettered by a 120 from Alex Truscott whilst Ewing teamed with Damian Chalmers to put together a fine 19 dart leg over the 601 doubles distance.

Three ton plus finishes lit up Bar Mez' 9-2 win over Indian Inn as Scott Town's 117 checkout meant Neil Reid's 101 had to settle for third best in the match.

Lee Rodmell's 112 was sandwiched in between those two efforts; coming in a 3-1 win against Mark Hatherley whose leg won came in just 17 darts.
