Mike's Magic Stretches Runaway Lead
Sixteen tons rained down from the arm of Mike O'Brien in a Monday Premier League 8-3 win for leaders Tradesmans at Legends Lounge.
O'Brien's ton tally was topped off by his team's only maximum and O'Brien was well supported by John Mann who nailed eleven tons.
Lee Agar's 105 checkout was one of eleven tons he nailed for the reigning champs, but that combination out had to settle for second best in the high checkout honours.
That achievement went to James Nicholls for the defeated team who rounded his twelve ton haul with a 120 three dart combination.
Sean Taylor ended his night as the defeated team's top scoring player with a 180 added to his thirteen scores of a ton or more.
A 17 dart leg came in a 3-1 win for Simon Washington, which was one of four singles put away by the leaders who made it eight wins from eight starts.
Andrew Cook dominated the scoring phase of a 9-2 success for King Billy over Octagon B with fifteen scores of a ton or more.
Both Ant Pearn and Scott Cook supported Cook well with ten tons each; the former topping up his ton tally with two magic moments.
Pearn added a 114 checkout to one of the two maximum in the match as Paul Gavican also heard '180' called after throwing.
Gavican's effort came in a 3-0 singles success that also saw Gavican pick up a 17 dart leg that was only bettered by Scott Cook who checked in 14 during another 3-0 triumph.
Octagon A continued their quest to remain in the mix for second spot in the league with an 8-3 win over Indian Inn that contained a Lee Hellings masterclass.
Hellings added twelve tons to the scoreboard across a game that saw him produce decent legs in both of the doubles and trebles.
Hellings firstly teamed with Paul Hendy for a 22 dart leg over the 601 distance before claimed a 16 darter in a singles that yielded a 26.83 average.
Hendy himself gave a good account all throughout the match with eleven tons whilst his team's only maximum came from the arm of Chrissie Kinnaird.
Another two maximums rained down from Danny Bull for the defeated team in a 3-1 singles defeat that saw Bull win his only leg in 14.
Glenn Halford's eleven ton tally lit up Bluebird B's derby win over their Bluebird A stablemates that ended in a 7-4 score line.
Dale Halford was also in good form with ten tons whilst Wayne Oddie's contribution of eleven tons for the defeated team added to the spectacle.
Both 180s in the game came from arms of the defeated side as Ryan Stubbs and Mark Henley fired alongside a 17 dart leg and a 130 checkout from the latter.
Mike Whatley heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than ten times for Cherry Tree A in a 6-5 success during a visit to Colebrook.
There was a 180 for each team in the close encounter as Whatley's teammate Paul Freeman joined Zak Smith in achieving that feat whilst Smith's 3-0 singles success was accented by a leg in 18.
180s from Darren Collis and Scott Lawrey did the damage for Victory who used those efforts as a springboard to a 7-4 win over Cherry Tree B.
