Smith Provides Octagon's Arsenal

Darren Smith and Alfie Ford led the way in the scoring phase of Octagon A's 10-1 win at Legends Lounge with eleven tons each in the Monday Premier League.

The duo were supported well by Paul Hendy who ended on a ten ton haul and added two 180s to Smith's solitary effort.

Hendy's performance was further emphasised by two of the three ton plus checkouts in the match as his 102 and 107 was only bettered by a 111 from Ford.

Hendy and Ford also shone in the individual phase as Hendy's 16 darter in his 3-0 win was matched by Ford in a 3-2 success that also contained a leg in 15.

Fred Goldsmith netted himself eleven tons to lead Tradesmans to a 10-1 success versus Cherry Tree B, in which four of Goldsmith's teammates added 180s.

The quartet of Jaden Whitting, Lee Agar, Simon Washington and Alec Turner all heard 180s called and there was two ton plus checkouts in the affair.

Goldsmith's 100 kill was only bettered by Washington with a 110 combination out whilst there brilliance at the business end of legs did not stop there.

Agar added a leg in 14 darts during his 3-1 triumph before Goldsmith was a 3-1 winner with his best coming in the form of 15 and 18 darters.

The best was saved until last though as Turner put together a truly remarkable 11 darter but still found himself on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat when throwing in the eleventh game of the night.

Ant Pearn completed a ten ton personal tally in a 6-5 win for King Billy over Bluebird B that saw two of the sextet from the away side also reach double figures in ton plusses.

Dan Hurley joined Glenn Halford in reaching ten tons whilst Pearn was one of three 180 hitters for the successful home side.

Pearn was joined by Scott and Andrew Cook in achieving that feat whilst Andrew Cook nailed himself a 130 kill that was the best finish of the contest, and that of the week's fixtures in the league.

The individual phase was littered with fireworks by both sides from the very first singles rubber and that was started by Dan Hurley with a 14 darter in his 3-0 success.

Scott Cook was a 3-0 winner thanks in part to a 15 dart leg before Dale Halford provided a leg in 15 during his 3-1 triumph.

Andrew Cook then checked in 18 darts for one of the three legs he plundered in a 3-0 success before Pearn rounded off proceedings with an 18 darter of his own during a 3-2 reversal.

A ten ton haul by Tony Tasker wasn't enough to arrest Victory's slide to a 7-4 defeat as Bluebird A came out on top thanks to moments of magic from a trio of competitors.

Owen Cook, Mark Henley and Stuart Couling all contributed with an 18 dart leg, a maximum and a 92 checkout respectively.

Henley wasn't the only 180 hitter in the game as Tasker's teammates Liam Taylor and Darren Collis both plundered a solitary three treble visit each.

Dave Wyatt's 76 checkout and a 16 dart leg from Zak Smith provided the fireworks during a 7-4 win for Wyatt's Octagon B over Smith's Colebrook.
