Stephen's Finishing Takes You Heff Away

Stephen Heffron's checkout of 126 in a 9-2 defeat for Cherry Tree A against Weston Mill Oak Villa was the highest recorded of all matches at this stage of the Plymouth Open League Knockout Cup first round.

That bettered a 120 checkout from Chris Lancaster for the opposition who have a healthy lead going into the second leg.

Division A title chasing Lugger A survived a scare to claim a 6-5 success over Beacon Park with the help of three of the four maximums in the match.

After falling behind 4-2 during a phase that saw Stan Preen put the first 180 onto the scoreboard for the defeated team, Jason Goldsmith fired the first maximum for the Devonport side in a 2-1 singles win.

Marc Mills also won by the same score line when firing a maximum whilst a third of the match came from Glen Brook in a 2-0 defeat last on that keeps the second leg precarious poised.

Logan Carroll also produced a moment of magic for the victors with a fine 91 checkout that was only the third best of the match having been beaten twice more by his teammates.

Alex Truscott's 94 had to settle for second best of the match as Richard Wheatley fired a 119 that claimed the best checkout of the match.

Sid Hurrell's brace of maximums couldn't arrest Mainstone A's slide to a 7-4 defeat to Ker St C whilst St Levans bettered St Johnston A by the same score line.

Fawn had Dave Clemson firing a brace of 180s in a 9-2 success over fellow Division B opponents King Billy B with Mark Sargeant adding a third for the Greenbank side.

Eoin Donovan's 103 checkout and a Ryan Banks 91 kill lit up a Prince Maurice derby between the Prince Maurice pub and Prince Maurice FC that finished 6-5 to the latter.

A Neil White 104 checkout was the main highlight of a 9-2 success for top of the pile in Division A Victory in their visit to Falstaff A.

St Johnston B bested their fellow Division A opponents 9-2 whilst Division B leaders Pennycross thrashed bottom of the pile in the same league Ker St D 10-1.

A 72 checkout from Lee Medway contributed to an 8-3 success for Division B's Fortescue in their trip to Division A's Ker St A.

Ker St B belied their Division B status to claim a win over Division A Weston Mill by an 8-3 score line whilst King Billy A bettered Stoke Inn 9-2.

Lugger B got themselves a healthy 8-3 lead over Duchy whilst Legends Lounge saw a 7-4 win over Cherry Tree B reversed due to fielding an ineligible player on the night.
