'Taylor-esque' Finishing From Plymouth's Very Own Taylor
At this moment in time, it seems inevitable that game shot is going to be called whenever Quinton Taylor is left with the biggest checkout of them all, the magical 170.
Just a few weeks after achieving the feat for a fifth time in his darting career, Taylor nailed the top of the shop checkout for a sixth time in Victory A's 8-3 win at Cherry Tree in the Steve Chapman 501 League.
Despite ending the wrong side of a defeat, Daniel Brazier top scored in the match with eleven tons whilst teammate James Ewing fired ten tons in vein.
Ewing's total was accented by the only maximum for his team whilst Tony Tasker threw his side's only three treble effort in a 3-2 defeat to Ewing.
Paddy Archibald's 16 darter proved to be crucial in a 3-2 win whilst teammate Scott Lawrey hit legs of 17 and 18 darts in a 3-1 win; ending the night on ten ton plusses.
Dave Johns fifteen three figure scores gave Kings Arms the platform to come away from their visit to Ker St with a 9-2 success.
Johns was well supported by Paul Palmer who made his total up to ten tons whilst Paul Hendy had moments of magic with two maximums and a game high checkout of 125.
Rob May fired the other 180 for the defeated home side whilst Lewis Byrne put up the most sustained resistance; finishing with ten tons overall.
Byrne was ultimately beaten in the individual phase by Paul Palmer who had to check legs in 15 and 18 darts in the 3-1 win whilst Johns won by the same score line with the help of a leg in 17.
Thirteen tons from both Andy Bates and Dave Matthews pushed Fawn B to an 11-0 away win over Victory Hammers.
John Mann was also prominent in the win with twelve tons whilst Matthews and Bates joined teammate Fred Goldsmith and Kieran Harris for the opposition in hitting a maximum.
Andy Bates 103 checkout was the best of the night whilst legs of 15 and 18 darts took Goldsmith to a 3-0 individual triumph.
There was a three 17 dart legs in the match with Matthews pair in a 3-2 win matched by teammate Lee Agar who threw one of his own in a 3-1 win.
Robbie Bisgrove heard scores of a ton or more called out thirteen times after he threw his darts during his Octagon team's 6-5 defeat to King Billy.
An outstanding contest between Bisgrove and eleven ton man Scott Cook saw the latter win 3-2 thanks to legs of 12 and 14 darts.
Two maximums and a checkout of 138 bettered a 104 three dart combination outshot from Bisgrove that was one of five ton plus finishes in the game.
Simon Washington's 100 seemed modest in the grand scheme of things as Alfie Ford added checkouts of 103 and 110 to the other two big checkouts in the match.
Washington's checkout topped his ton total up to the ten mark; a run that ended in a 3-1 individual win that contained two legs in 17 darts.
Ford's sharpshooting wasn't curtailed to the finishing section of the games as he added ten more three figure visits to those aforementioned checkouts to give him twelve on the night.
Ford was however beaten by an inspired Zak Burden who put away a crucial 12 darter in a 3-2 win that contained the final 180 of four in the match.
Joining Burden and Cook in the 180 column was Andrew Cook who threw one in the match before dispatching his opponent 3-0 to allow his side to take a 6-5 win in the final rubber of the game.
Billy Evans ploughed in twelve tons as Victory C picked up an 11-0 win over Fawn A; a total that was topped up by one of the five maximums in the match.
The other 180s came from Evans' teammates Jason Pinkerton and Mark Shears, as well as Mike Bassett and Mike Nancholas who fired one each in riposte.
Evans brace of 16 dart legs helped him over the link to a 3-0 win whilst Phil Hoyle won by the same score line thanks in part to a leg in 17.
Mike Pearce's firepower led the way for St Levans during a 9-2 win over Indian Inn in which Pearce finished on twelve three figure scores.
Pearce (29.47) majestically fired in legs of 17, 16 and 18 during a 3-0 win with Tex Pearce beating Indian's ten ton man Mark Hatherley 3-1 thanks in part to an 18 darter.
John Burford and Tom Full were the main protagonists for Bar Mez who won 9-2 against Duchy after Burford's 180 and 130 checkout and Full's 120 finish and a maximum.
