The Teal Deal

Tony Teal was the Bluebird A's star man in the Plymouth City Super League with fourteen ton plusses in a 7-4 win for the Compton side over rivals for fourth spot, Raffles.

The pulsating encounter saw teammate Glenn Halford hit one of three maximums in the match on his way to ten tons overall.

James Stoodley added another for the victorious team whilst Danny Bull found the Mutley club's only three treble visit of the match during the very first rubber of the night.

Stoodley also notched two of four 90 plus out shots by the teams; the highest of all a 97 in a 3-1 individual success that also contained a 91 single visit checkout and a 15 dart leg for Stoodley.

Those moments of magic were joined by teammate Kev Rice's 95 finish in a doubles success and a 90 combination out from Harry Bull during his 3-0 win.

As the score line suggests, it certainly wasn't all one way traffic with James Ewing firing thirteen tons for his team.

Fourteen tons for both Neil White and John Mann helped leaders Octagon rip through Clifton by an 11-0 score line in a match that saw five averages posted above the 27.00 per dart mark.

The first and best of those came in the inaugural game of the night as Mann teamed with Alfie Ford and Dave Matthews (34.52) for a 1001 leg in 29 darts.

White and teammates Fred Goldsmith and Lee Hellings (27.05) then produced a 37 darter over the same distance before Hellings and Ford (28.60) paired for a 1001 leg in 35 darts in the doubles phase.

That was one game after Matthews had put the first of six 180s onto the scoreboard; the other five all coming in the first three individual games.

Neil Holder hit one maximum in his 3-0 defeat to Matthews who ended the fabulous individual display on eleven three figure scores.

Wayne Town repeated Holder's feat against White (30.67) who helped himself to legs of 14 and 15 darts, as well as a 120 checkout, in another 3-0 success.

Dan Jewell sole 180 was usurped by a brace from Mann (30.06) in another 3-0 triumph before Hellings threw the last of his ten tons in a 3-1 win and Ford won by the same score line thanks in part to a 110 checkout.

Victory B fell to a 9-2 defeat against their A team rivals but not before Lewis Dare added twelve ton plusses to the scoreboard for the defeated side.

Dare ran out one of two individual winners with a maximum and a checkout of 118 helping his cause against Phil Hoyle who was one of three players in his side to reach eleven tons.

Sean Burkitt was the B team's other points scorer with a 3-1 win that was achieved with a 16 darter and a 180 against Matt Chegwin who added a checkout of 103 in the loss.

Chris Beale put the very first 180 onto the scoreboard for the defeated team in game one of the match, with Danny Allen's three treble visit the only maximum achieved for his team.

That, plus a 100 checkout in the doubles phase of play, helped Allen join Paul Gavican in ending the match on eleven three figure scores.

A 7-4 win for Saltram at Victoria saw three of their players reach eleven tons; Warren Gordon the first, completing his total in a singles match that he won 3-0 with two 16 darters.

Teammates Simon Kelly and Paul Hendy hit a maximum each on their way to eleven three figure scores whilst Phil Walsh's 3-1 singles win was accented by an admirable checkout of 83.

Dave Lee's eleven ton haul couldn't arrest Cherry Tree's slide to a 6-5 defeat against Bluebird B who also had Dan Hurley throwing eleven three figure scores of his own.

Lee's total was propped up by a 116 checkout thrown during a 3-2 singles win that also contained a leg in 16, which was only bettered by a 15 darter for teammate Steve Mills in his 3-0 success.

Simon Stevenson was the top performer with eleven tons during an 11-0 whitewash win for Fawn A over Duchy B, which also saw David Roberts finishing a leg in 15 in his 3-0 triumph.

Antony Hayman threw four maximums in a 10-1 win for King Billy over Fawn B with that mammoth haul getting him over a third of the way to his eleven ton total for the evening.

Three of those aforementioned 180s were scored in a 3-0 individual win that was put away in just 13, 15 and 18 darts for a brilliant 32.67 single dart average.

An 18 darter in a 3-2 win for Lee Doncaster proved to be the difference in his success whilst Paul Goundry was also in good nick with a 180 and a checkout of 95.

Steve Hiscox produced ten tons to lead his Colebrook Inn team to a 10-1 success over their visitors from St Levans.

Darren Smith's leg in 17 helped him to a 3-0 win whilst St Levans' only point of the match was won by John Sturdy in the last game of the night thanks in part to an 88 checkout in a 3-1 win.

Both George Beckett and teammate Phil Taylor lit up Steampacket's 9-2 success in their visit to Duchy A with ten tons each.

Beckett's total was rounded off by the game's only maximum whilst Marc Webber's 77 finish claimed the highest of this particular match.

A close fought 6-5 win for King Arms B in their derby match with Kings Arms A saw ten of the eleven games played decided by a single leg.

Dave Johns was the most prominent player on display with ten tons and a leg in 17 during his 3-1 success whilst Darran Bailey checked a leg in one visit from 77 during his 3-2 defeat.

Another matchup decided by narrow margins saw Victory C get the better of Hyde Park by a 6-5 score line with both teams checking 111 from the very first time of asking.

The first came from James Smith in his 3-0 win whilst Ben Welsh repeated the admirable feat during another 3-0 triumph.

Welsh's teammate Russ Paxton-Denny had earlier put the only maximum onto the scoreboard during a doubles rubber.
