What's Up, Scott?

Scott Lawrey's (32.67) blistering performance got the Steve Chapman 501 League season off to a blinding start, but that wasn't enough to arrest Victory A's slide to a 6-5 defeat at King Billy.

Lawrey's 3-0 win was blown away with legs in 15, 15 and 16 darts and he walked away from the oche with an admirable ten tons for his night's work.

Lawrey's teammate Darren Collis added a 79 checkout for the best combination finish of the match whilst all of the 180s went the way of the victors.

Paddy Archibald bagged himself a brace of 180s to add to a solitary effort from teammate Brandon Hartley for the home team.

The game was left on a knife edge going into the final singles rubber at 5-5 but Scott Cook held his nerve to run out a 3-0 winner, which gave his team the success.

Jack McMinn (29.47) showed why the champs have put their faith in him to lead the team to another title with a 3-0 win that was accented by legs in 14 and 17 darts, which came in an 11-0 win for Fawn B at Trademans.

Lee Agar added a 105 out shot to his total of thirteen tons and was supported well by two members of his cohort as McMinn put on eleven tons to go alongside Fred Goldsmith's ten three figure scores.

A member of each team ploughed home a brace of 180s as Mitchell Grimshaw's two was matched by a double from Sean Taylor.

Goldsmith's individual win over Grimshaw saw a 17 dart leg turn out to be crucial in deciding a 3-2 victory whilst Agar won by the same score thanks in part to legs in 15 and 18 darts.

Jason Smout added twelve tons for Beacon Park but still remarkably found himself on the wrong end of a 6-5 match result as Cherry Tree A defeated their local rivals.

Dan Brazier provided two moments of his brilliance in a 3-0 individual success with a 126 checkout added to by a 12 darter.

Jason Pinkerton provided Cherry Tree B with the ammunition to spark an almost perfect start to their season with twelve tons in a 10-1 win over Duchy.

Pinkerton's ton tally was topped up by a solitary maximum that was added to by teammate Paul Gavican whilst Scott Wapshott showed his finishing prowess in the individual phase.

Wapshott's 3-0 success was accented by a 150 checkout and a 15 darter, which rounded off the impressive first week win.

Kev Dudbridge's 120 checkout helped Bar Mez get their season up and running with a 7-4 triumph over Victory Hammers.

Nick Bryant started the new campaign much like his previous with eleven tons on the first night, but that haul couldn't arrest Cherry Tree C's slide to a 6-5 loss at the hands of Kings Arms.

Bryant's tally was propped up by a 129 checkout that was the best of four ton plus finishes in the game, as well as his team's only maximum.

Their side's other ton plus out shot was plundered by Steve Mills who added a 110 kill whilst two fell to the victorious Oreston side.

Paul Palmer added a 117 combination out and what turned out to be a crucial 15 darter during a 3-2 triumph over Bryant.

That started a comeback for the home side from 5-3 down that was eventually completed by Dave Johns in a final leg shootout.

Johns added a 180 and checked a 107 combo during his 3-2 win that ensured his team walked away from the first week with a positive start.

James King's 167 checkout, which came in a 6-5 defeat for Victory Hammers against newcomers The Exchange, will be hard to beat for the best of the season despite it coming in the very first week.

Teammate Kieron Leay added a leg in 17 during his 3-0 individual victory whilst Rikki Eastley provided the opposition's moment of magic with a 180.

Alfie Ford showed there's plenty of life still left in the old dog with ten tons during an 8-3 win for Octagon at Cherry Tree D.

Ford's long term stablemate, Dave Pethick, put up a 98 out for the best of all checkouts in the game whilst Martin Pearson's 180 for the defeated home side was the only effort of it's kind.

Tex Pearce's ten ton plusses gave St Levans the platform to claim an 8-3 win during their visit to Fawn A, which saw multiple highlights particularly in the individual phase.

Pearce added his 180 in the final doubles matchup before Matt Pearce added one of his own during a 3-2 singles success.

Mike Pearce nestled two 17 darters into the board to go alongside a third three treble visit for his team in a 3-0 success and Tex Pearce rounded off proceeding with a 3-0 win that contained a leg in 18.

The Greenbank hosts only had one memorable moment in the game as Mark Sargeant's 82 combination out shot gave him the best checkout of the game.

A 100 checkout from Dan Wilkinson provided the most notable moment in Indian Inn's 6-5 loss against Stoke rivals Firkin Scholar who prevailed thanks to Andrew Jackson winning the final singles rubber 3-1.
