Your Tex Is On Fire

Tex Pearce's remarkable performance for St Levans in the Plymouth City Super League led them to a 7-4 victory over Kings B.



Pearce netted twelve tons included one of two maximums for his team and a 140 checkout that was the highest of both the match and week across all fixtures in the league.


That checkout bettered a 100 from John Sturdy and Anna Pearce's 105 whilst the other maximum for the Keyham outfit came from Mark Hopkins.



Tex Pearce (28.90) rounded off a fine outing with a 3-0 singles win that contained best legs of 14 and 18 darts when rounding off the win last on.


The only resistance from the Oreston team came from Martyn Down who threw ten ton plusses over the evening.



A 7-4 win for Steampacket at Clifton was dominated by George Beckett who checked one leg in a single visit from 100 to put the cherry on top of a twelve ton personal haul.


Dan Jewell's checkouts of 93 and 79 for the Clifton had to settle for second and third place whilst the only maximum of the evening came from Beckett's teammate Phil Taylor.



Beckett (26.37) ripped through his singles with winning legs of 17 and 18 darts contributing to a fine average in the 3-0 win.


Octagon continued their relentless parade to the title with a 10-1 win over Victoria in which Dave Matthews was the main protagonist with twelve ton plusses.



Matthews was well supported by John Mann who threw eleven three figure scores whilst the pair also teamed for a 1001 leg taken in 32 darts for a 31.28 single dart average.


That bettered a 39 darter from Lee Hellings and Alfie Ford (25.67) whilst Fred Goldsmith's (25.05) was put away 3-0 with the help of the highest checkout of 118.



Matthews joined Neil White in achieving a 180 whilst Gary Eaton put the other onto the scoreboard for the defeated team.


The man that Matthews defeated 3-1, Aaron Wright, managed ten tons on the night whilst Eaton's 17 dart leg was the best of the night; beating teammate Mick Bingham's 18 darter in a 3-0 success.



Steve Mills top scored for Cherry Tree with eleven tons in a 9-2 home success over Duchy A that also featured a Nick Miller maximum.


John Greatrex was also in good nick during the triumph with ten three figure scores over the course of the evening to help secure the big win.



Sean Burkitt put eleven tons onto the scoreboard but still found himself on the wrong end of a 7-4 defeat as Victory B fell to King Billy.


The effort that eventually ended in defeat was helped along by Adam Fell's ten ton personal tally and 180s from teammates Lewis Dare and Paul Hoare.



Geoff Heath added the King Billy's only maximum of the contest whilst Antony Hayman was once again prominent with ten tons, as well as an 11 dart leg during his 3-0 singles success.


Heath also claimed the honour of taking out the highest finish of the match with a modest but respectable 70 kill.



Mark Shears ploughed in ten tons including one of four 180s in the Victory A's 10-1 success over Saltram who had Warren Gordon joining Shears in achieving a maximum.


The other three treble visits came from Scott Cook and Tom James whilst James also managed a 94 checkout that claimed the highest of this particular match.



Dave Roberts and Simon Stevenson's 180s made the narrowest of differences in Fawn A's 6-5 win over Raffles; for whom Danny Bull checked 96 for the biggest finish.


Jason Goldsmith checked a leg in 17 darts and helped himself to the only maximum of the contest but still found himself on the wrong end of a 9-2 defeat as Victory C fell to Ker St.



Fred Lamerton was the top performer for the victorious Devonport team as he finished in a single visit from 110.


Glenn Austin was the form man of Bluebird A's 7-4 win at Kings A as he threw both a 180 and a single visit finish of 86.



Colebrook were the biggest winners of the game week with an 11-0 success over Fawn B; John Donald and Andy Bond sharing the the high checkout honours with fine 98 checkouts.


James Duke's 66 checkout was the only noteworthy contribution between the Duchy B and Hyde Park; the latter taking the win 8-3.
