Devon Youth start campaign with a victory

DEVON Youth made an excellent start to their Southern Counties Youth League campaign when they won all three categories in their match away at Cornwall to achieve a 10-5 victory.

The Winsor sisters laid the foundations in the ladies’ tie when, in a 2-1 victory, Rhea and Aston both won 3-1.

Despite Cornwall tieing the match at 2-2 when winning the opening set of the under 18’s match, Kieran Peek (22.43) restored Devon’s lead with a win in three straight legs.

TOP AVERAGE: Keelan Kay posted the highest average of 29.47 in the opening week of the Southern Counties Youth League campaign when he won 3-0 in 16, 18 and 17

Cliff Townley followed when coming from 2-1 down to win 3-1 followed by an excellent performance from Owen Bates (27.33) who won 3-0 in 13, 22 and 20.

Luis Green emerged a 3-0 winner before man-of-the-match Keelan Kay took his winning legs in 16, 18 and 17 for a 29.47 average that not surprisingly was the best performance from any player in the whole of the league.

The under 21’s lost the opening two sets of their fixture but wins from Chris Raddon (3-1) and Kieran Heard (3-0) brought them level before Curtis Green (26.37) secured the win with a 3-0 victory that included a 16-dart leg.
