OCTAGON Social Club halted The Staddy’s progress at the top of the Plymouth City Super League table after they came from behind to edge out the table-toppers 6-5, for only their second defeat of the campaign.

Steve Packer added to the cause when taking out a finish of 120 in a 3-2 singles victory while Warren Gordon, for the visitors, secured a leg with a kill of 118, only to be defeated 3-1 by Fred Goldsmith.

Porters B will carry their unbeaten record into the 13th match of the campaign after winning 8-3 away at Plympton Cons B.

Malcolm Johns deservedly earned the plaudits when he top-scored with 12 throws of a ton more which included outshots of 110 and the week’s best of 134.

Team mate John Mann was also prominent and recorded two 180s, his 11th and 12th of the season.

TOP CHECKOUT: Malcolm Johns threw outshots of 100 and the week's highest of 134 helping Porters B to a 12th consecutive victory.

Steve Hiscox was one of only two winners for the hosts and defeated Scott Wapshott 3-2, aided by a leg in 15.

Paul Tackle (100x13) caught the eye for Ker St Social Club in their win by the narrowest of margins against The Albemarle while there was also a 6-5 success for Kings Arms B despite being 3-0 down at Compton Social Club.

Ships Tavern delivered arguably their best performance of the season and returned from Clifton B with all but one of the 11 points that were on offer while another solid performance on the road provided Plympton Cons A with a 9-2 victory at Kings Arms A.

Clifton A had Paul Bowen (100x16) as their talisman, inspiring them to a 9-2 victory at Hyde Park while Maritime A won 7-4 at The Fawn.

There was also a 7-4 victory for Maritime B when hosting Porters A, for whom Billy Evans caught the eye when hitting a brace of 180s in a 3-0 singles success.
