Wells bids for a fifth Civil Service title

TWO Plymouth darts players will represent the South West of England, when they participate in the Civil Service national championships on Friday and Saturday at the Best Western Stoke-on-Trent Moat House.

Cat Callard will compete in the ladies’ singles after winning the south west area play-offs in May at the Teignmouth Inn, Dawlish, while Glyn Wells will be bidding for a hat-trick of titles no less.

Wells first won the prestigious CSSC national singles crown in 2010 and followed that success with a win in 2013, before victories followed in 2015 and 2016.

WINNING DUO: Cat Callard and Glyn Wells who will be representing the South West of England in the Civil Service national singles championships.

Wells has also been a valued member of the Plymouth side which has won the national team title on no fewer than eight occasions.

There will be nine English regions represented, as well as competitors from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Competition begins on Friday evening with a mixed pairs competition for the Jack North trophy.

Following a random draw, Callard lifted the famous trophy last year when partnered with Welsh marksman Gareth Edwards.

Both singles competitions will be contested on the Saturday and played through to the grand finals.
