Leaders maintain eight-point advantage

MARATIME Marauders remain eight points behind the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League leaders, despite achieving a 10-1 victory away at Waterloo, as the same winning scoreline was also attained by the table-toppers Porters Patriots when hosting Kings Arms.

The leaders had John Mann on target with three maximum scores and Andy Bates emerged a 3-0 singles winner, aided by a leg in 15, while Malcolm Johns equalled the week’s highest checkout with a mark of 126.

Peter Holland (100x13) top scored for Maritime Musketeers in their 11-0 drubbing of Duchy of Cornwall while two 180s from Lewis Dare was the highlight of Falstaff’s 9-2 victory against The Clifton.

DAN'S THE MAN: Dan Johnson's outshot of 126 for Maritime Misfits equalled the week's highest mark which was also claimed by Malcolm Johns for Porters Patriots.

City Social defeated Fawn A 8-3 while Octagon Social Club secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when hosting Cherry Tree.

Paul Tackle (180x2) and Steve Packer won their doubles, abetted by a 601 leg in 17, while their Octagon team mate Dave Pethick was consistent throughout and top scored with 13 throws of a ton or more.

Brookside won 7-4 on their visit to Fawn B in a high scoring fixture that saw 100 throws of a ton or more recorded which included four maximums.

Gary Phillips (100x13) was Brookside’s leading exponent with Fred Goldsmith (100x14) impressing for the hosts.

Torpoint Cons received good service from Lee Rodmell (100x14) in their 9-2 win at Compton Social Club and in winning his singles 3-2, secured his best games in 15 and 18.

Plympton Cons went down 7-4 to visitors Indian Inn but played their part in a high-scoring encounter that produced 105 ton plus scores which included 22 throws of 140.

Mike Brookshaw (100x15) and Mike Whatley (100x13) were the big hitters for Indian while Dave Collins (100x14) and Steve Hiscox (100x14) impressed for Cons.

Another well contested fixture ended with Maritime Misfits defeating Porters Pretenders by a 7-4 margin.

Jon Matlock (100x14) and Scott Wapshott (100x14) played well for the Pretenders and they also had Mark Shears winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 14.

For the Misfits, Dan Scott emerged a 3-1 winner in 20, 19 and 16 and Dan Johnson equalled the week’s top finish of 126.

Other notable outshots were achieved by Robbie Bisgrove (116), Jerry Lydon (106), Gary Phillips (103).
