Patriots now only unbeaten side and 13pt lead

THE top-of-the-table clash between the only previously unbeaten sides in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League ended with Porters Patriots defeating Maritime Marauders 8-3, to open a substantial 13-point lead over the chasing pack.

The high-quality fixture produced107 throws of a ton or more, including seven maximums, three of which were thrown by Patriots’ Andy Bates.

CONSISTENT: Steve Packer threw a consistent game in helping Octagon to arguably their best performance of the season and emerged a 3-1 singles winner in 17, 16 and 20.

Only four points separates the five teams behind the leaders and Octagon Social Club are now in that mix after arguably their best performance of the season, brought them an 11-0 victory away at Fawn A, hitting 54 throws of a ton or more along the way.

Steve Packer emerged a 3-1 winner in 17, 16 and 20 and Alfie Ford and Tony Lamerton gelled in the 601 doubles and took out a 17-dart leg before going on to win 2-1.

Octagon only dropped three legs from the six singles which included a 3-0 win for Dave Pethick who achieved the week’s top checkout with a kill of 130.

Indian Inn defeated Compton Social Club 9-2 and received good service from Paul Gavican and Mike Whatley who, in both winning 3-0, achieved legs in 15 and 13 respectively.

Plympton Cons emerged 8-3 winners at Porters Pretenders but Dan Brazier (100x12) for the hosts was the top scorer and his team-mate Mark Shears notched two maximums in a 3-1 singles success.

Fawn B triumphed 7-4 over Cherry Tree in a match that produced seven maximum scores, which included two each for both Matt Legge and Dave Jones.

Kings Arms won the last two singles to edge out City Social 6-5 while Falstaff secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer away at Falstaff.

Lewis Dare recorded a 15-darter in a 3-0 singles win but Jodie Hawton prevented the whitewash when hitting a 17-dart leg before going on to a 3-2 singles success.

The remaining fixtures produced 7-4 victories for Maritime Musketeers, Brookside and The Clifton.

The best checkouts were achieved by: Lee Agar (127), Paul Palmer (125), Warren Gordon (120), James Duke (113), Dan Brazier (111), Ian Downing (108), Martyn Nichols (108), Paul Gavican (102).
