Broome Sweeps Clean

Will Broome fired the first top of the shop 170 checkout of the Plymouth City Super League Division A season, but he still ended on the wrong side of a 9-2 defeat as Compton Social Club were downed by Raffles B.

Harry Bull was the main aggressor with ten tons, which included one of the six maximums the team put onto the scoreboard.

Braces from Paul Hoare and Tony Reid were added to by Leighton Wilson, whilst Bull was also involved in the highlights at the business end.

Bull's 3-1 victory contained legs in 15 and 18 darts, whilst Ryan Fuller's 116 checkout and an 84 from Owen Cook were the best apart from the 'big fish' by Broome.

Scott Lawrey (31.97) almost made history after throwing eight perfect darts before missing the crucial component of a 9 darter in a 3-0 singles win that contained legs in 10 and 16 darts.

That came in a 7-4 win for Falstaff A at Falstaff B as Lawrey joined teammate Kelvin Rowe in reaching ten ton plusses each.

Lawrey notched two 180s, with a third being hit by Scott Cook on his way to eleven scores of a ton or more overall.

Craig Hillary (30.67) blitzed through his 3-0 singles success with legs in 18, 15, and 16 darts, which claimed one of the points Raffles A mustered in a 7-4 win at Bluebird A.

Hillary also bagged eleven ton plusses, whilst teammate Lewis Dare was the recipient of no fewer than three '180' calls to add to his 116 single visit combination outshot.

Glenn Halford led the charge for the defeated home side with thirteen three figure visits and also helped himself to a leg in 17 darts during a 3-1 triumph.

Nathan Langdon (27.33) checked two legs in 18 darters during his 3-0 singles win that came in a 6-5 defeat for Ship's Tavern at Tradesmans.

Simon Washington (26.39) was also in good nick during the singles phase as he found a 16 darter in another 3-0 win, completing a twelve ton haul along the way.

Washington's tally was ticked over to that mark with two of the four maximums as Langdon and teammate Frankie Stout also contributed.

Stout top scored for the defeated team with eleven ton plusses, whilst Langdon joined Dave Hollow in achieving a ten ton tally overall.

The best checkout of all thirty-one in the closely fought contest was a 114 three dart combination outshot from Darren Smith.

Ker St A were defeated 6-5 by Legends Lounge A despite an astonishing seventeen ton plus haul from Ian Heggie.

Heggie fired his team's only maximum on his way to that total, whilst Kobi Hayman added two maximums and a leg in 18 in his 3-0 singles victory for the away side.

Heggie's opponent, Robbie Aitken, checked a leg in 18 darts in a 3-2 success for his adversary, whilst Ryan Harris checked 87 in a single visit, which was only bettered by a 100 from Heggie's teammate Peter Lamerton.

Sixteen tons rained down from the arm of Simon Stevenson, but he still found himself on the wrong side of a 10-1 defeat as Legends Lounge B were downed by Raffles Diamonds.

Lee Hellings provided the ammunition for that victory with fourteen three figure visits that included one of the five maximums in the match.

Teammate Mike Beard fired two of those as Stevenson's teammates Shaun Dring and Lee Hunter both netted 180s of their own.

Hellings was supported well by Alfie Ford with ten tons overall, whilst Stevenson's stablemate Andy Malinowski put up eleven ton plusses of his own.

John Mann started the affair with a 93 combination outshot in the very first trebles rubber, and that sharpshooting at the business end continued into the singles phase.

Beard opened the individuals with a 3-0 win that contained an 11 darter and checkouts of 85 and 86 before Hellings got the better of Malinowski 3-2.

Hellings' 16 darter proved crucial in deciding that win over Malinowski, who himself netted a 100 combination in one of the two legs he nailed.

Mann checked in 17 and 18 darts during his 3-0 win before Stevenson's 3-1 success that saw him put away a 17 darter and a 97 finish.

Alfie Ford rounded off the enthralling contest with a 3-1 success, which saw a 94 checkout and a leg in 18 contribute to a brilliant matchup between two top teams.

Nick Bryant brought most of the designated home team's fight with thirteen ton plusses, whilst Keith Carter was also prominent with eleven.

Carter's 3-1 singles success contained a 104 checkout that was immediately bettered by Dave Lee with a 105 in a 3-1 win over Cook, who added a 16 darter.

Legs in 18 darts from both Rowe and Tony Tasker proved crucial in deciding 3-2 individual victories that helped take the game away from their opponents.

Dan Brazier was a fourteen ton hitter for Ford Inn, which aided their 7-4 win over Fawn A, who had Reg Matthews reaching ten tons.

Scott Wapshott, Mike Trim and Lee Rodmell all secured 180s in the contest, whilst Rodmell's 106 and a 104 checkout from Wapshott bettered an 82 from Mark Hempsall.

Those two aforementioned heroic moments from Rodmell contributed to a personal tally of ten scores of a ton or more for him personally.

Steve Mills top scored for Kings Arms B with thirteen three figure visits as the hosts secured a 10-1 success over Duchy A.

The cherry on top of Mills' performance was a 137 checkout that came in a 3-0 singles victory that also saw a leg plundered in 15 darts.

David Johns completed his ten ton plus haul with one of the three maximums as teammate Mike Tucker joined AJ Brunton from the opposition in achieving that particular feat.

That effort ticked Brunton's ton tally over to the ten mark, whilst a 79 finish from teammate Keith Walton was the best provided by the away side.

Kev Doel and Scott Heggie led the scoring with ten tons each in a closely fought 6-5 win for Doel's Steampacket at Heggie's Firkin Scholar.

180s were scored by George Beckett and Leigh Oakley, whilst Beckett and Heggie nailed 17 darters in a 3-1 win for Beckett over Heggie.

Nick Miller was the hero of the hour in the final singles success as he fired a 120 checkout in a 3-1 victory that came in the last game of the night to secure the spoils of a close battle.
