Mid-season approaches with leaders 24 points ahead

BROOKSIDE’S inactivity in the penultimate week of the first half of the season was seized on by unbeaten Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League leaders Porters Patriots as they increased their advantage over the Honicknowle side to 24 points.

Winning 9-2 at Compton Social Club, Malcolm Johns caught the eye when top scoring with 16 ton plus throws, which included two maximums and he was well supported by Andy Bates (100x15).

Their stablemates Porters Pretenders secured maximum points against Duchy of Cornwall but in a much closer and well contested fixture, Maritime Musketeers defeated Fawn B.

Five times the Keyham side led and five times their opponents Fawn B drew level, but Musketeers won the decisive point when Kenny McCollum just got the better of Fred Goldmsmith after the players went the full five legs.

INSPIRED: Lee Rodmell inspired Torpoint Cons to an 11-0 victory against Waterloo Inn and took out a 12-dart leg when checking at the first time of asking with the week's highest outshot of 155.

Maritime Misfits defeated Octagon Social Club 8-3 and form player Scott Hutchinson (180x2) took a leg in just 11 darts but still had to go the full five legs to shake off wily veteran Ralph Lancaster.

Paul Palmer won 3-1 aided by a leg in 14 and Octagon had Alfie Ford as their leading marksman with 15 ton plus scores.

In a high scoring match that saw more than 100 ton-plus throws recorded, Falstaff had to settle for a 6-5 win away ay Indian, despite leading 4-0 while Plympton Cons overcame City Social 8-3 and had Dave Collins emerging a 3-1 winner in 18, 20 and 17.

Fawn A went from leading 4-1 to trailing Kings Arms 5-4 but won the last two singles through Dan Hill and Stephen Knight to grasp victory by the narrowest of margins.

Maritime Marauders returned from Brewery Tap with a 9-2 victory and the fixture produced six maximum throws, two of which was recorded by Tex Pearce, who took his singles 3-1 aided by best legs in 15 and 18.

His team mate Phil Hoyle also caught the eye when also winning 3-1, aided by leg in 14.

Torpoint Cons took all available points at the expense of Waterloo Inn with the highlight being a 3-1 victory for Lee Rodmell who finished a 12-dart leg with the week’s highest checkout of 155.
