High standards evident again as leaders march on

HIGH standards were maintained once again in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League, evident in the fact that in the latest round of matches, the stats showed that there were 14 ton plus checkouts and 26 maximum scores recorded.

League leaders Porters Patriots secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when hosting Fawn A and had Antony Hayman winning 3-0 with his best legs being taken in 17 and 14.

Fawn’s Dany Hill caught the eye when he was on target with a brace of 180s.

Kings Arms also won 10-1 away at Waterloo Inn and had Alex Turner taking a leg in 13 while Maritime Misfits defeated Indian Inn 8-5.

Porters Pretenders edged out Fawn B 6-5 in a close match that went to 5-5 before Shaun Baily, aided by a leg in 13, won the decisive point.

Plympton Cons overcame Torpoint Cons 6-5 and had Paul Bowen top scoring with 15 throws of a ton or more.

Dan Malinowski was also prominent and emerged a 3-0 winning having finished a 15-dart leg with a kill of 114.

Octagon Social Club overcame Brookside 7-4 in a competitive fixture that saw six 180s recorded.

Two of them came from Dave Pethick and he also emerged a 3-0 winner with the help of legs in 17 and 15.

Tony Reid was on target with a brace of 180s in Brewery Tap’s 8-3 success at City Social while Maritime Marauders won by the same scoreline at Falstaff, a match that was well contested by both teams.

The fixture produced 105 throws of a ton or more, including five maximums and the winners had Tex Pearce top scoring with 14 ton plus throws.

Lewis Dare was the only singles winner for the hosts and in claiming a 3-1 victory, took out a leg in 14, finishing from 100 with two darts.

Maritime Musketeers defeated Compton Social Club 7-4 and had Kenny McCollum top scoring with 13 ton plus throws which included the week’s top checkout of 157 which equals the season’s best.

Other notable finishes from across the boards were recorded by: Paul Palmer (135), Alfie Ford (127), Steve Hiscox (125), Dan Scott (121), Scott Lawrey (118), Kelvin Rowe (115), Robbie Bisgrove (111), Robbie Newland (109), Alex Turner (108), Mike Trim (104), Pete Holland (102).
