Keelan to make PDC debut on Development Tour

PLYMOUTH teenager Keelan Kay will take another big step towards a career as a professional darts player when he makes his debut this weekend on the PDC Development Tour.

Events one and two will be contested on Saturday with players competing in three and four the following day at the Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan.

Following an exceptional first year on the youth darts circuit, Kay was rewarded with a PDPA scholarship, which now enables him to compete on the 2018 Tour.

The Plymouth Studio School pupil finished 2017 in second place on the Junior Darts Corporation’s (JDC) order of merit, despite only being able to compete in four of the six tournaments played.

SCHOLARSHIP: Following an excellent debut season in 2017, Keelan Kay will take up his scholarship offer and compete on the PDC Development Tour in 2018 which begins this weekend at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan.

He was the outright winner of Tour Three in Worcester and won valuable ranking points in the other three.

The Professional Darts Corporation's Development Tour allows any player aged from 16-23 to compete in a series of events throughout the year and as he only turned 16 as recently as January, he will be the youngest player on the tour.

There will be 20 events taking place during 2018 and each is worth £10,000 in prizemoney with the leading two players from the Development Tour Order of Merit winning a PDC Tour Card.
