Patriots' record continues but Misfits run them close

PATRIOTS’ unbeaten record continues into their 34th match of the campaign, but the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League leaders were pushed all the way by third-placed Maritime Misfits before winning 6-5.

This was yet another fixture portraying the high standards of the league with no fewer than 131 throws of a ton or more recorded.

Danny Allen top scored for Maritime with 17 three-figure throws which included three maximums while John Mann (100x20) and Antony Hayman (100x15) were on target throughout for the winners.

Octagon Social Club defeated Maritime Musketeers 8-3, but the losers had Lee Agar registering the week’s top checkout with a kill of 116.

WINNER: Maria O'Brien won the last point of City Social's fixture away at Fawn B, with a single's victory in 18, 15 and 18 which enabled Social to win 6-5.

The best singles of the match saw Octagon’s Steve Packer (180x2) take legs in 15 and 20 before edging Kenny McCullom 3-2 who was prominent himself with games won in 14 and 16.

Fawn B came from a 3-1 deficit away at City Social Club to lead 5-4, only to be edged out 6-5.

Jordan Grimshaw kept Social in the hunt when winning the penultimate match to make the scoreline 5-5 before Maria O’Brien (100x15) emerged a 3-1 winner in 18,15 and 18 for an excellent victory.

Plympton Cons won 10-1 away at Waterloo Inn, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Falstaff when hosting Compton.

The Southway side had Lewis Dare (100x13) emerging a 3-0 winner, aided by a leg in 15 and checkouts of 101 and 108.

John Goves (100x12) showed some vintage form as Torpoint Cons won 9-2 away at Duchy of Cornwall while Fawn A defeated Brewery Tap 8-3.

Maritime Marauders came from behind and secured the last three singles to prevail 6-5 against Porters Pretenders and had Jason Pinkerton winning 3-2, aided by a leg in 14 and two maximums.

Kings Arms overcame Brookside 7-4 in a match that saw 115 throws of a ton or more recorded which included five maximums, two of which were hit by Dave Algar.

James Hughes (100x12) showed good form for the Oreston side as did Brookside’s Scott Lawrey (100x12).
