Steve's barnstormer helps Cherry Tree to first win

CHERRY Tree picked up their first victory of the new campaign in the Monday Premier League when they defeated Indian Inn B 8-3.

The Pennycross side had Steve Barnes (27.83) earning himself the week’s top average when emerging a 3-0 winner in 19, 15 and 20 while John Kemp was a lone winner for Indian, aided by a leg in 15.

After two consecutive defeats, Steam Packet A found the winning formula and inflicted on Prince Maurice B an 11-0 whitewash the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Brookside A away at Ford Hotel.

TOP AVERAGE: Cherry Tree's Steve Barnes achieved the week's best average as the Pennycross side picked up their first victory of the new campaign.

The victory puts the Honicknowle side in joint second spot with Maritime who won 9-2 away at Porters B, inflicting on them their first defeat.

Steam Packet B remain top of the table after a 9-2 success away at Prince Maurice A and had Alex Brown winning 3-1, aided by a leg in 15.

Glenn Halford for the hosts hit two maximums in a 2-0 doubles victory with Lee Roberts, their best leg being won in just 16 darts.

The Tradesman put in a good showing away at Bluebird A and in winning 8-3, hit six maximums, two of which was achieved by Tony Lamerton.

The marksman was also on target with his finishing and recorded the week’s top checkout with a kill of 116.

An outshot of 116 was also achieved by 15-year-old Jordan Grimshaw who was the only singles winner for City Social in their 9-2 defeat at home to Porters A.

Lewis Dare top scored for Porters with 17 throws of a ton or more, 13 of which came in a 3-2 singles victory.

Octagon B returned from Brookside B with an 8-3 success, the same winning margin that was also achieved by Indian Inn A when hosting Hyde Park.

Mike Whatley top scored for the winners with 15 ton plus throws and Andrew Nation emerged a 3-0 singles winner, with his best leg being won in 15.

Plympton Cons won by the narrowest of margins when hosting Bluebird B and there was also a 6-5 success for Firkin Scholar against Brewery Tap.

Brian Lumsdon (100x16) caught the eye for the winners while Pete James (100x13) top scored for Brewery Tap who tasted defeat for the first time.
