Champions on target to complete season undefeated

CHAMPIONS Porters Patriots are still on course to finish their Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League campaign undefeated, after they won their penultimate match 9-2 away at Torpoint Cons.

Malcolm Johns recorded 10 throws of a ton or more in a 3-0 singles success, which included legs in 13 and 15 and was well supported by John Mann (100x16) who, in winning 3-1, achieved his best leg in 14.

Lee Rodmell (100x12) was a lone singles winner for the hosts when edging out Andrew Nation 3-2.

12-DARTER: Glyn Wells took out a 12-darter before going on to take his singles in three straight legs, inspiring City Social to a 10-1 victory over Compton Social Club.

Indian Inn took all available points when they were visited by Waterloo Inn, as did Brookside Social Club when hosting Duchy of Cornwall.

City Social also won in double figures when restricting Compton Social Club to a single point and in winning his singles in three straight legs, Glyn Wells hit a 12-darter, when scoring 99-134-180 before checking out in three from 88.

Dave Matthews (100x12) top scored for Maritime Marauders in their 8-3 victory away at Fawn A while Kenny McCollum hit two 180s for Maritime Musketeers as they won 7-4 against Kings Arms.

Alfie Ford (100x13) and Steve Packer (100x12) were both prominent but finished up on the wrong end of a 7-4 score-line when Octagon Social Club were defeated away at Plympton Cons.

Dave Collins, who has been in a rich vein of form as of late, emerged a 3-0 winner in 20, 20 and 17 to post a 26.37 average.

Kieran Burns (100x15) inspired Falstaff to a 7-4 success away at Porters Pretenders but it was Mark Shears (30.67), for the hosts who earned the plaudits, when emerging a 3-0 winner in 16, 16 and 17.

An excellent fixture was contested by Maritime Misfits when they defeated Fawn B 9-2 with 97 throws of a ton or more recorded, which included two maximums and 26 scores of 140.

Dan Scott (27.33) emerged a 3-0 winner in 15, 19 and 21 and Maritime team-mate Danny Allen (26.84) was also prominent when he won 3-0 in 19, 19 and 18.

But in the best encounter of the evening, Paul Palmer (100x16) won 3-2 in 18, 19 and 20 with opponent Lee Hellings’ (100x14) taking both his winning legs in 15.
