Snowy wins England call-up for WDDA World Cup

A PLYMOUTH darts player has become the first disabled marksman to be selected to represent his country.

After some excellent results playing on the “Road to Winmau” tour, organised by the British Disabled Darts Association (BDDA), Snowy Dyson is now ranked as the country’s No.1 wheelchair player.

That form has not gone unnoticed by the selectors and Dyson will be part of a four-man team who will represent England in the inaugural WDDA Winmau World Cup of Darts, to be contested over the weekend of Feb 22-24, 2019, in Oostende, Belgium.

Each team will consist of four players, two of which must be wheelchair players, and making up England’s quartet will be Pete Bramley, Jonathan Hirst and Kevin Stringer, who will be managed by Matt Doe.

Following a warm up tournament on Friday, February 22, the team event will be contested on the Saturday with the singles being played out on the Sunday.

The singles will be split into two categories, one for standing players and the other for wheelchair users.

Ricky Chilton, from St Ives, who is the BDDA’s No.1 ranked player, will also compete and will lead a team which will be representing Wales.
