Bates claims top game and checkout in max points win

THERE is little change at the top of the Plymouth and District Friday League after the top two sides both won in double figures.

Kings Tamerton Community Centre secured all but one of the 13 points that were on offer from their visit to The Fawn while Royal Naval Arms A took maximum points away at Queens Dock.

Andy Bates (32.29), for the Keyham side, laid the foundations for victory when he claimed the team game with a 125 checkout, hitting bull, 25, bull, followed by an excellent singles game in 31, and finishing as leading marksman with 14 throws of a ton or more.

The Windmill led Dinky Diner B 5-1, but still had to rely on Steve Marker to win them the match after the hosts rallied to make it 5-5.

Paul Barclay (28.60) secured his singles in 35 as Octagon Social Club won 9-4 away at Pennycross SC while Steam Packet won by the same margin at Royal Naval Arms B, inspired by Matt Thompson who top scored with 14 throws of a ton or more and took his singles in 32 (31.28).

City Social A returned from Railway Inn with an 11-2 victory, inspired by Kieran Burns (30.33) who hit seven ton plus scores in a 33-dart victory.

Ton plus checkouts were achieved by: Simon Godfrey (113) and Phil Dare (100).
