Maritime B take advantage of leading duo's inactivity

THE top two teams in the Plymouth City Super League, namely Maritime A and Porters, both cancelled their fixtures due to Devon’s county match away at Cambridgeshire, but third placed Maritime B took full advantage and closed the gap with a 10-1 victory against their stablemates Maritime C.

The Albemarle edged a close encounter when hosting Cherry Tree and had Adam Truscott, aided by a checkout of 118, winning the decisive sixth point by a 3-1 margin.

Dave Collins (100x14) top scored as Plympton Cons A won 8-3 away at Kings Arms A while two maximums from Dave Hall was the highlight of Octagon’s 9-2 victory against The Fawn.

The Clifton and The Staddy both won by the narrowest of margins when they entertained Kings Arms B and The Bluebird respectively, while another encounter that went the full distance was won by The Tradesman when hosting Compton Social Club.

The Tradesman led 3-1 after the early stages but fell 5-4 behind before Paul Bowen made it 5-5 and Lee Rodmell (pictured) clinched the decisive point when winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 16.

Rodmell also emerged as the leading marksman from the fixture with 15 throws of a ton or more.

Plympton Cons B defeated Victoria 7-4 but the side from Hooe did have some consolation when Gary Eaton’s outshot of 130 proved to be the week’s best.

Also on target were: Peter C Ray (113), Kelvin Rowe (110), Alfie Ford (110).
