Hellings earns plaudits while inspiring team to victory

LEE Hellings earned the plaudits for Fawn B in their defeat of Indian Inn A in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League, with an excellent all-round showing that saw him top score and emerge a singles winner, aided by a leg in 13.

Fawn B amassed 55 throws of a ton or more throughout their 10-1 rout with Hellings hitting no fewer than 18 of them, which included three maximum scores of 180 which came in a 3-2 singles success.

The Greenbank side also had Robbie Newland showing his finishing prowess when he registered the highest checkout of the week with a mark of 151.

Another outstanding performance came from table-toppers Porters Patriots, who hit 53 ton plus scores, which included two 180s each for John Mann and Antony Hayman, before taking maximum points from Compton Social Club.

Hayman (31.98) emerged a 3-0 winner in 15, 16 and 16 and was well supported by Mann (12 and 16) and Andy Bates (13) who also both won in three straight legs.

Peter Holland (100x12) was consistent throughout for Maritime Musketeers in their 11-0 whitewash of stablemates Maritime Nutters, while Fawn A and Falstaff were both 7-4 winners against Cherry Tree and The Melbourne respectively.

Victory Inn A returned from Maritime Governors with a 7-4 victory having Neil White as their leading marksman who top scored with 12 ton plus throws which included a brace of 180s.

Octagon Social Club secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer away at The Office while also winning by a 10-1 margin were Maritime Marauders away at Indian Inn B, who had Mike Pearce (100x11) catching the eye when winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 15.

Scott Wapshott (100x13) secured legs in 16 and 18 before winning his individual game 3-2, which was the highlight of Porters Pretenders 10-1 success away at Victory Inn B.

Brewery Tap won 7-4 away at Kings Arms, inspired by two solid performances from Glynn Wells and Maria O’Brien.

Wells (30.06) emerged a 3-0 singles winner in 14, 17 and 19 while OB won 3-1 in 19, 16 and 15, aided by two 180s.

Three-figure checkouts were achieved this week by: Lewis Dare (138), Dan Hill (136), Tony Lamerton (120), Dave Clemson (118), Antony Hayman (116), Kieran Burns (112), Dave Matthews (110), Kieran Harris (108).
