Porters move to within striking distance of leaders

PORTERS were the only team to win in double figures and have subsequently moved to within striking distance of Plymouth City Super League leader’s Maritime A, who have had their lead trimmed back to five points.

Porters secured all available points on their visit to Cherry Tree and had John Mann hitting a brace of 180s while tabletoppers Maritime A won 9-2 when hosting Ker St Social Club.

Quentin Taylor was once again Maritime’s form player hitting three maximums, which all came in a 3-1 singles victory.

John Sturdy hit two 180s in a 3-2 singles success but finished up on the wrong end of a 7-4 scoreline when St Levan Inn were defeated on their visit to The Clifton.

Maritime B won 7-4 at Kings Arms B and The Albemarle also won on the road when defeating Compton Social Club 9-2.

Glenn Halford inspired The Bluebird to a 7-4 success away at Maritime C and top scored with 12 ton plus throws, seven of which came in a 3-0 singles victory.

Octagon Social Club were in a rich vein of form and in beating Kings Arms A 9-2, put 64 ton plus scores on the board which included 17 throws of 140.

Fred Goldsmith (100x15) hit a 14-darter before going on to win his singles 3-2 and was well supported by Alfie Ford (100x13) and Dave Pethick (100x13).

Andy Malinowski (100x15) caught the eye in Plympton Cons A’s 7-4 victory against The Staddy while The Tradesman won 9-2 away at Victoria.

Lee Rodmell won his individual game in three straight legs, aided by two maximums and a 14-dart leg while Paul Bowen (100x14) was also on target.

Andy Bond (pictured) inspired Plympton Cons B to a 7-4 victory away at The Fawn when, in winning his singles in three straight legs, threw the week’s highest checkout of 128.

Mike Nancholas (100x12), for the hosts, also showed his finishing prowess when achieving checkouts of 104 and 120.

Other notable outshots were achieved by: Roger Ford (113), Kev Rice (112), Adam Truscott (111), Steve Packer (110), Andy Malinowski (108), Dave Algar (100), Warren Gordon (100).
