Octagon A move to the top with two-point advantage

OCTAGON A defeated Plympton Cons 10-1 and have now taken over at the top of the Monday Premier League table with a two-point advantage.

Lee Hellings was on target with a brace of 180s but Alfie Ford (pictured) took the plaudits when, in winning 3-0, he finished a leg in 12 darts.

Porters A are in second place after having to go the full distance away at Brewery Tap before winning 6-5.

Antony Hayman was on for a nine-darter after hitting back to back 180s, but had settle for a win in14, while Sam Frampton top scored for the winners with 13 throws of a ton or more.

Hayman went on to register three maximums in the fixture, from a match total of eight.

Shaun Bailey won 3-0, aided by a leg in 14 to inspire Victory A to a 10-1 success away at Ford Hotel while Steam Packet also won on the road and defeated Bluebird D 8-3.

Dave Matthews (100x11) and Luke Johnson (100x13) performed well in the doubles securing their deciding leg of 801 in 15 darts when Matthews finished at the first time of asking from 148, registering the week’s top checkout.

Maritime were 7-4 winners away at Octagon B with Kieran Burns (100x14) top scoring and Shaun Dring winning 3-2, aided by a leg in 15.

Two 17-darters in a 3-0 win by Steve Crane was the highlight of Bluebird B’s 8-3 win at Firkin Scholar while Indian Inn B edged out Bluebird A 6-5 after winning the last two singles.

Kieran Harris (100x11) hit a 15-darter in a 3-2 singles success to bring Victory B level at 5-5, only to lose 6-5 when Simon White clinched the 11th point for The Tradesman.

Another close encounter that produced 98 throws of a ton or more saw Indian Inn A win the early exchanges, including a 24-dart 801 treble victory for Danny Bull, Harry Bull and Mike Whatley (33.37) in 24 to go 2-0 up, only for Bluebird C to win five on the spin, inspired by top scorer Glenn Halford (100x13).

Trailing 5-2, Indian rallied to take the last four singles, including a 3-1 win for Danny Bull in 16, 16 and 21 and he also top scored with 15 throws of a ton or more which included an outshot of 146.

Also on target were: Teresa Brookshaw (120), Shaun Dring (116), Luke Johnson (102), Lewis Dare (100).
