Only third defeat for Octagon but it went to the wire

OCTAGON A lost for only the third time in 17 matches in the Monday Premier League when they were edged out by third placed The Tradesman, in an excellent fixture that saw no fewer than 122 throws of a ton or more put up on the scoreboard.

Octagon’s Stew Roberts (28.36) won 3-0 in 15, 16 and 22 but with the scoreline evenly poised at 5-5 Alfie Ford (100x17), who won legs in 19 and 18 was edged out 3-2 by John Mann (100x20) in 15, 16, 16 in an excellent finale, thus giving The Tradesman a 6-5 victory.

There was no joy either for Octagon B, as they went down 9-2 away at Brewery Tap, but it was Octagon’s Andrew Waters who earned the plaudits when, in winning his singles in three straight legs, posted a 13-dart leg as well as achieving outshots of 155 and 117.

Of the six maximums that the match produced, two of them came from Octagon’s Paul Barclay.

Porters A took maximum points off Bluebird D and had Scott Wapshott (100x16) (pictured) winning 3-0 in 14, 19 and 17, boasting an average of 30.06.
