A Wap-Shott In The Arm For King Billy

Scott Wapshott produced a blistering sixteen three figure scores in Steve Chapman 501 League reigning champion's King Billy's 6-5 win over Victory B.



The visitors were as many as 3-1 up before a resurgent Devonport team were fought back thanks to Wapshott's heroics, as well as a stellar performance from Andrew Cook who added fourteen tons.


Cook managed a pair of maximums whilst his brother Scott Cook also added one in a 3-2 win over Billy Evans who threw a 16 darter in vain during that particular tie.



Scott Cook reached ten tons for the evening whilst teammate Alec Turner checked 126 in three darts for the highest out of the contest.


With the scores locked at 5-5, it came down to Antony Hayman (33.40) to take home the victory for his team.



And the former Devon and Cornwall player duly delivered with a 3-0 win that came with legs of 14, 14 and 17 darts for a marvellous win.


John Mann plundered fourteen tons, including three of four maximums by his Fawn B team, in an 11-0 whitewash of Indian Inn.



Mann was ably supported by Dave Matthews who reached eleven tons whilst Andy Bates bagged himself the other 180 of the matchup.


Matthews 16 dart leg beat one in 17 by Bates and an 18 darter from teammate Lee Agar, with all efforts usurped by Mann's leg in 14 in his 3-0 singles win.



Victory A and Kings Arms shared eight maximums between the two sides as the home side overcame the visitors from Oreston by a score of 8-3.


A brace from Paul Goundry, Quinton Taylor and a solitary 180 from Kelvin Rowe meant the Honicknowle team outmuscled their counterparts in the maximums stakes as well as the match score.



Goundry himself also managed eleven more tons to top score for the victors with thirteen three figure scores to his name.


Paul Palmer added a brace of his own for the defeated side whilst Dave Johns added one maximum to his total of thirteen three figure scores.



Palmer was also prominent with twelve tons whilst teammate Dave Algar reached thirteen also and Chrissie Kinnaird checked 94 in a single visit to the board for the highest effort of the match.


Tex Pearce top scored with eleven three figure scores in St Levans 11-0 thrashing of Duchy of Cornwall, in which Mike Pearce hit a 150 checkout that claimed the highest of the week prize.



That mammoth effort beat a 107 from Matt Pearce whilst both Tex and Mike joined Shaun Dring in adding their names to the 180 column.


Tex Pearce's 15 darter in his 3-0 win bettered a leg in 17 by Mike Pearce during his success by the same score line.



Paul Tackle top scored for Bar Mez with eleven tons in a 7-4 win for the Torpoint outfit over Fawn A with one of those supplying his team's only maximum.


Tackle's teammate Mike Bulmer checked an 18 dart leg in his 3-0 win whilst Mark Sargeant and Mike Bassett both added maximums for the defeated Greenbank team.



The Octagon have taken the early lead in the standings with an 11-0 win over Firkin Doghouse as both Nik and Jayden Dodd ploughed in maximums for the Stonehouse team.


Their teammate Dave Pethick also added a top quality one visit finish of 94 in a win that saw his team succeed without dropping a single leg.



A 16 darter from Maria O'Brien, as well as aa brilliant 116 checkout from her teammate Trafford Clevett, helped Victory D to a an 8-3 success over Victory Hammers.
