All Change In Steve Chapman 501 League

Former Steve Chapman 501 League leaders Victory A were pegged back 6-5 by reigning champions King Billy 6-5 in a tantalising match that saw six 180s between the teams.



Andrew Cook top scored with fifteen ton plusses for the victors; a haul that included a brace of 180s and a 101 checkout.


That checkout was beaten by Victory's Paul Goundry who added a maximum and finished in one visit from 149 on his way to eleven tons; an effort that was the highest of the week across all fixtures.



Alec Turner added a third maximum for his team on his way to ten tons whilst Scott Cook and Kelvin Rowe threw the game's other 180s.


Scott Lawrey top scored for the defeated team with thirteen ton plusses whilst Quinton Taylor was also prominent with eleven three figure efforts.



Other big hitters were Antony Hayman and Scott Wapshott who managed twelve and ten tons for the match overall with Hayman undoubtedly the start of the show during the individual phase.


Hayman (28.36) added a 14 darter during his 3-0 win was the best of that period whilst Kev Lofthouse and Andrew Cook paired for an 18 dart 601 leg in a 2-1 doubles defeat.



Another short leg came when Turner and Wapshott teamed with Scott Cook in the trebles for a 25 dart 801 leg which yielded a 32.04 single dart average.


Twelve tons from John Mann helped Fawn B climb to the top of the table with a 10-1 success over Torpoint based Bar Mez.



Andy Bates was also prominent with eleven ton plusses whilst Mann's brace of 18 darters helped him to a 3-0 singles win.


Bates was also a 3-0 winner with the help of a solitary leg in 18 whilst Jaden Whitting won his singles 3-0 with legs of 18 and 17 darts.



The only noteworthy contribution of the evening from the defeated Cornwall based team came from Dave Burford's 180, which was the only effort of it's kind during the match.


Fawn A picked up a third win of the campaign with a hard fought 6-5 win over Octagon that saw Mike Bassett pick up the high checkout of 120.



Despite ending of the wrong side of a narrow defeat, Jayden Dodd was prominent with a maximum on his way to thirteen ton plusses.


Alfie Ford was the other maximum hitter as he added a chalk mark to the ton column on no fewer than ten times.



Simon Washington's eleven ton haul that contained two 180s was the spark for the Kings Arms 11-0 win over Victory Hammers.


Paul Palmer assisted Washington well with ten tons and a maximum whilst the Oreston side's other maximum hitter, Dave Algar, also checked a leg in one visit from 90.



Title chasers Victory C now sit seven from the summit after a 9-2 win over Indian Inn that contained a 102 checkout for Phil Hoyle that was usurped by a remarkable 142 from teammate Paul Gavican.


The win was helped along by five maximums in the match with Billy Evans brace added to by Hoyle, Gavican and Jason Pinkerton.



Mike Pearce notched two 180s during a 6-5 win for St Levans over Victory D that came down to an inspired singles from the Devon man.


With the scores locked at 5-5, Pearce (29.47) added legs of 14 and 17 for a 3-0 to give his team the spoils after a hard fought contest that saw Maria O'Brien and Chris Beale both add 180s for the defeated team.



Duchy of Cornwall got their first win in nine league outings with an 8-3 success over bottom side Firkin Doghouse.
