Andy Handy Around Treble Bed

A remarkable nineteen tons from Andrew Cook helped the King Billy to a 6-5 win over Victory B in the Monday Premier League.

Cook hit two maximums in the team phase of play with the other 180 of the match coming from his brother Scott who was playing for the opposition.

Despite that superb personal total, and putting a leg in 17 onto the scoreboard, Paul Gavican defeated Cook 3-1 in the individual phase.

Gavican ended his evening with that win and twelve ton plusses overall whilst there were other notable contributions from two members of Cook's Devonport side.

Antony Hayman ploughed in a 13 darter in a 3-0 success whilst Kev Lofthouse's 88 was the highest recorded finish of the match.

Fifteen tons from Jack McMinn wasn't enough to arrest Bluebird A's slide to a narrow 6-5 defeat in their away match with Cherry Tree A.

Alan Masters also contributed heavily to the entertaining game with twelve tons whilst Cherry Tree talisman Mike Whatley led his team well with ten ton plusses.

Whatley and McMinn also added their names to the maximum column of the sheet; as did Whatley's teammate Paul Freeman.

There was a number of short games in the match with Whatley's 15 darter in a 3-0 win the best of a bunch that included two legs in 17.

Those were ploughed in by McMinn in his 3-0 win and Matt Chegwin who won the match for his team 3-0 with the scores tied at 5-5.

In addition, there was pair of legs in 18 with both Alan Masters and Paul Freeman's 3-0 wins both being claimed with the help of a leg each in six completed visits to the board.

Another man to reach fifteen three figure scores and end on the losing side was Tony Tasker who reached that milestone in a 7-4 defeat for Victory A at home to Colebrook.

That win was largely down to the efforts of Darren Smith and Dan Giles who both reached ten tons whilst Giles 3-1 individual success contained a 15 darter and a checkout of 100.

Leaders Tradesmans won 11-0 again with their latest victims in a format they have dominated for two seasons being Victory C.

John Mann's twelve ton haul saw him claim one of two 180s for this team with Lee Agar providing the other maximum.

Mann's (27.83) 3-0 individual win was the best of the evening with legs of 16 and 18 darts only bettered on the night by Jaden Whitting's 14 darter in his 3-0 success.

Andy Bates was another player for the Stonehouse based team that chalked up an 18 darter in another 3-0 win whilst Fred Goldsmith's 100 checkout rounded off ten tons personally.

George Beckett was the first of three players in the matchup between Cherry Tree B and Bluebird C to reach eleven tons in a 6-5 win for the former.

The highest of those eleven was a maximum from Beckett whilst Tony Teal was the second player to reach the eleven ton mark.

Teal teamed with Glenn Austin in the doubles to claim a 21 dart 601 leg with Austin later returning to the board to claim a 3-1 win which was helped along by a leg in 17.

Glenn Halford rounded off the trio of eleven ton hitters with a 104 checkout the best of that decent total for the Compton team's star player.

Lee Wyatt top scored with eleven tons for Indian Inn as they defeated Octagon B 7-4 with Danny Bull also contributing ten tons of his own.

Bull's total was accented by a maximum whilst Pete Cornish added a 120 checkout in the match that was the highest all hit during the tie.

A 9-2 win for Octagon A over Bluebird B saw a maximum for each team as Owen Cook and Paul Palmer struck whilst Lee Hellings and Stuart Couling top scored with ten tons each.

Couling also claimed the least number of darts honours with a leg in 16; the only leg he won in a 3-1 individual defeat.
