Dale Didn't Fail To Impress

Dale Halford top scored with thirteen ton plusses for Bluebird Bandits in their 10-1 Plymouth City Super League win at Duchy B.

The youngster's performance not only included a maximum, but also a game high checkout of 90 to round off a superb individual display.

Halford's total was only beaten on the night by Roger Backway's fifteen ton haul in a 6-5 defeat for Kings Arms B against Colebrook, which came down to the final leg of the match.

That win owed much to the form of Dave Hollow who ploughed in ten tons for his team and a combination out shot of 69.

Hollow was well supported by Darren Smith who threw two maximums but experienced the strange occurrence of losing both games he did so in.

Both of those defeats came at the hands of Dave Johns who also added his name to the 180 column of the results sheet with the Oreston side's only effort of the evening.

A topsy-turvy evening where the lead changed hands no fewer than six times culminated in Nathan Langdon defeating Kings Arms' star man for the evening, Backway, 3-2 to give his team a hard fought win.

Wayne Town produced thirteen tons, including one of four 180s between the two teams in a 6-5 defeat for his Clifton side against Ker St.

Town's brace of 17 darters and a game high checkout of 86 got him over the line individually 3-2; a contest that contributed to ten of the eleven being decided by just a single leg.

Dan Jewell's leg in 18 was crucial in seeing him to a 3-2 win; finishing the match with ten ton plusses personally come the end of his night.

Whilst the Greenbank side were the heavy scorers, the victors produced the majority of the 180s as Ian Heggie joined Roger Bailey and Ralph Lancaster in achieving the feat.

Simon Stevenson put thirteen tons onto the scoreboard as Fawn A impressively won 6-5 at third placed Victory A.

Stevenson bagged himself one of the three maximums from the Greenbank side as his teammates Mark Hempsall and Mike Nancholas joined the party with a 180 each.

Stevenson was also dominant in the individuals as his brace of 17 darters in a 3-0 win was only bettered by a leg in 16 from Mark Shears for the defeated team.

Shears added an 18 darter and a 180 to his 3-1 success; the maximum completing a ten ton personal haul for his night's work.

Shears didn't top score for the Honicknowle side however as teammate Paul Gavican added eleven three figure scores before the game reached a crescendo at 5-5 with Bill Scannell steering his team to glory with a 3-1 win.

Second placed King Billy suffered the same fate as the team directly below them in the standings with a 6-5 loss to Bluebird A.

Glenn Halford was once again the Compton side's talisman with twelve tons that including a maximum and a high checkout of 120.

Tony Teal joined Halford in achieving the maximum 180 whilst Paddy Archibald threw the Devonport team's only three treble visit of the night.

Despite ending on the wrong side of a disappointing narrow defeat, Lee Doncaster was in good nick adding eleven ton plusses to the score sheet.

George Beckett heard scores of one hundred or more called twelve times when throwing in a 7-4 win for Steampacket at Kings Arms B.

Beckett was his usually brilliant self in the individual phase with a 17 darter the best for him and his team during a 3-0 personal win.

That leg bested a leg in 18 from teammate Marc Webber in a 3-1 triumph; finishing on ten tons personally in the process.

Mike Sant was the best performer for the home team as he nailed eleven tons to the board whilst the high checkout of the night came from the hand of Mike Connell with a 103.

Another 11-0 for runaway leaders Octagon, this time over St Levans, had Neil White, Fred Goldsmith and Lee Hellings at the heart of it as they shared thirty-six ton plusses equally between them.

Hellings twelve ton total was topped up by the match's only maximum whilst John Mann was blistering in his individuals.

Mann (28.90) checked legs in 15 and 17 and produced a 100 finish in a 3-0 triumph; the 15 darter only bettered by a leg in 14 from Goldsmith in a 3-1 success.

Hellings joined teammate Alfie Ford in notching one leg in 17 with the latter adding an 18 dart leg; the pair completing a quartet of 3-0 successes for the Stonehouse side.

Two maximums for Danny Bull rounded off a ten ton haul that saw his Raffles team to a 6-5 success over Cherry Tree.

In defeat, Bob Wood still managed to check the highest finish of the week with a fine 130 three dart combination out shot for the Pennycross team.

That effort left Matt Anderson's 117 checkout in third place for the week; the achievement gained in a 7-4 defeat for Fawn B against Saltram.

Victory C were 10-1 winners at Duchy A whilst Victoria came back from their visit to Hyde Park with a 7-4 triumph.
