Great Scott And Tony Put Opponents To Task

Tony Tasker and Scott Lawrey navigated some tricky ties to pick up the annual Monday Premier League doubles title, as well as prize money sponsored by the venue hosting the evening, the Bluebird.

A 2-0 win for the duo in the preliminary round over Octagon B combination of Steve Jones and Dave Wyatt started off their road to the winners circle of the event supported by no fewer than twenty-nine teams.

In that very same round, Harry Bull added the first of four maximums on the evening as Bull and father Danny Bull came through 2-1 against Wayne Oddie and Dan Hurley who represented the Bluebird B.

That started off a run that would eventually end at the semi final stage for the two former Devon players whilst there was another maximum found in the preliminary stage.

Cleo Trelease was the second 180 hitter but found herself on the wrong side of a 2-1 defeat as Trelease and Victory C teammate Thomas McLatchie fell to home duo Stuart Couling and Owen Cook of the Bluebird B.

Next up for Lawrey and Tasker was a tricky looking tie against Lee Hellings and Alfie Ford who represented the league's runners-up, Octagon A.

The Victory A team scraped through 2-1 despite Hellings checking the only leg the Stonehouse side recorded with the highest checkout of 110.

A 2-0 win for Lawrey and Tasker over Mike Whatley and Paul Freeman of the Cherry Tree A left them with Victory B's Ant Pearn and Mark Sleet in their way of a final appearance.

Lawrey nailed a maximum in the 2-0 win whilst in the other semi final, 2022 champions Andrew Cook and Antony Hayman edged Indian Inn's Bull pairing of Danny and Harry despite the former hitting a 180.

The grand finale was dominated by the Victory A team as 20 dart opener from Lawrey and Tasker (27.32) was followed by a leg in 24 over the 601 distance to snatch the title.
