He Who Dares...

Lewis Dare shone with fourteen ton plusses in Victory B's 8-3 defeat to their stablemates, the A team, whilst adding one of three maximums between the teams to the scoreboard in the Plymouth City Super League.

Usually that amount of tons would come about as a result of a drawn out, five leg battle in the singles phase but Dare ripped through his game with legs of 17 and 15 darts for a 3-0 win.

Dare's contribution however was slightly overshadowed by a brilliant team performance from the opposition as Scott Cook top scored with eleven ton plusses.

Cook also joined teammate Mark Shears in hitting a maximum on the night and also managed a 15 darter in his 3-0 individual success.

Cook's 112 checkout in that triumph was usurped by a 124 from Danny Allen which was the third highest of the week across all the games.

Despite being beaten 3-0 by Allen, Mark Turner still scored heavily during the match with ten tons for the defeated team in a much welcomed return to something like his very best form.

Bluebird A now top the standings after an 8-3 success over Raffles who themselves had Danny Bull racking up as many as fourteen ton plusses overall.

Bull's 3-1 win featured a 16 dart leg whilst the Devon man added a maximum to his impressive total earlier in the match.

That was one of four 180s on the night with Bull's teammate James Ewing adding to efforts from Alan Masters and Glenn Halford who reached double figures in tons for the victors with ten.

Eddie Bull's impressive 138 single visit out shot was the highest of the match and the only leg he won in a 3-1 singles defeat.

Colebrook's 9-2 success in their visit to St Levans was accented by Dave Hollow's thirteen three figure scores which included finishes of 112 and 116.

These efforts beat superb combination checkouts from teammates Adam Searle and Dave Reed who checked 110 and 111 respectively to make it four ton plus efforts from the team.

Tex Pearce, who was St Levans only singles winner, added the game's only maximum in his 3-0 success in a difficult night for his team.

Octagon made it five wins from five outings so far this season with a 10-1 success over Clifton in a game that was dominated by Neil White's twelve ton haul.

White was one of two players from the Stonehouse outfit that added 180s to the scoreboard as teammate Dave Pethick chalked up one of his own.

The favourites for the title set their stall out early in the match as Lee Hellings teamed with White and Pethick to produce a 36 dart 1001 trebles leg in the second tie of the night for a 27.81 single dart average.

White returned in the singles to check a 16 darter in his 3-0 win whilst Hellings (26.84) bettered this with a leg in 14 during his win by the same score line.

The Greenbank team's only success of the evening was hard fought as Dan Jewell hit a maximum on his way to a 3-0 success.

Fawn A were the biggest winners and movers in the league as their 11-0 whitewash of Half Moon projected them to second spot in the standings.

That was largely thanks to the contribution of Simon Stevenson who bagged himself a 180 on his way to eleven ton plusses for his evening's work.

Despite ending on the wrong side of a heavy defeat, Kevin Marshall still had time to hit a maximum in his team's only noteworthy contribution of the evening.

Dan Hurley produced eleven tons during his Bluebird B team's 8-3 success over Cherry Tree who had Steve Mills in great form.

Mills notched a 13 darter and two maximums in his 3-1 success over Nigel Bassett who checked 80 in a single visit to the oche for the highest of the match.

Despite his Saltram team being narrowly defeated 6-5 by Victoria, Dave Algar took all of the plaudits during the contest for the St Judes side.

Algar hit a maximum on his way to ten tons for the night and also bagged an 86 checkout which was the highest recorded during the tie.

Algar's 3-1 individual success also came about with the help of a 17 dart leg in what was a brilliant personal performance.

The highest checkout of the week across all fixtures came in the Kings Arms derby, which ended 6-5 to the B team over their A team rivals.

Mike Sant bagged the honours for the defeated A team with a 156 kill during his 3-1 singles win in which he also checked a leg in just 18 darts.

Paul Carpenter was on form for the B team as he bagged himself a 180 and a leg in 16 during his win by the same score line.

Champions King Billy continued their unbeaten start to this campaign with an 11-0 whitewash of bottom side Fawn B.

Three of the games four maximums were put up by Paddy Archibald, Paul Palmer and Lee Doncaster for the victors whilst Antony Hayman was one of a number of players that impressed during the match.

Hayman (28.90) won his singles 3-0 in just 52 darts as he checked the three legs in 18, 18 and 16 darts with Mark Yeoman matching the 16 dart feat during his win by the same score.

Both Paul Goundry and Archibald managed 17 dart legs during their singles wins of 3-0 and 3-1 respectively whilst Mike Bassett was Fawn B's only shining light on a difficult night.

Bassett notched his team's only maximum and an 80 checkout during his 3-1 singles defeat to give his team some cheer.

Victory C picked up their first win of the campaign with a 6-5 win over Hyde Park which saw Adam Truscott win the deciding tie of the match with the scores tied at 5-5.

Hill's teammate James Smith had earlier checked a leg from 100 whilst the only 180s scored in the match were from Hyde Park's James Duke and Jacob Bentham.

And George Beckett's 82 checkout was the only noteworthy contribution of an 8-3 success for the Steampacket over Duchy Of Cornwall.
