The evergreen Andy Bates is not going slowly into retirement as he lit up the Plymouth City Super League Division A with a 170 checkout for Octagon in a 10-1 win at Kings Tamerton.

That mammoth top of the shop finish gave Bates his cherry on top of a thirteen three figure visit personal ton tally.

Bates was supported well throughout by Lee Hellings, who netted two maximums on his way to twelve ton plusses.

Bates' aforementioned finish came in a doubles match that was put away in 23 and 18 darts over the 601 distance by Bates and teammate Fred Goldsmith (29.32).

The very next doubles rubber saw Hellings team with Alfie Ford in a 2-1 win that a 17 darter decided before Hellings continued his form in the individual phase.

Hellings smashed in a 14 dart leg during his 3-0 success, which was followed by Neil White's 3-0 victory that saw one leg plundered in 16 darts.

Quinton Taylor was a twelve ton hitter for Cherry Tree D in a 10-1 away success at St Levans that also saw Nick Bryant fire ten tons.

Phil Hoyle produced two magic moments with a 109 checkout and the only 180 of the matchup, with the former of those achievements coming in a 3-1 singles defeat.

Lewis Dare was a 3-1 winner thanks in part to a leg in 16 darts, which was only bettered by Keith Carter's 15 dart leg that came during a 3-0 victory.

Antony Hayman's twelve ton plus haul brought King Billy A to the brink of victory before it was snatched away in the final singles tie of a 6-5 loss versus Kings Arms B.

Dave Johns led the attack for the victors with ten scores of a ton or more, whilst teammate Simon Kelly's 93 outshot bettered an 80 from Hayman's teammate Kev Lofthouse.

Hayman was a 3-1 singles winner thanks in part to legs in 16 and 14 darts before at 5-3 down, the visitors from Oreston mounted a comeback.

Johns completed his ton tally in a 3-1 win before Paul Hendy fired a 16 darter in a 3-0 win that left Steve Mills to bring home the bacon with a 3-1 success when throwing last.

Three of the four 180s were put onto the board by Ford Inn as Mark Shears added two to Scott Cook's solitary effort, but the pair still ended on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat at Cherry Tree C.

Martin Pearson added to that quartet for the victors, whilst Cook's leg in 16 that came in his 3-0 success was only bettered by Frankie Stout's 15 darter that rounded off a 3-1 win.

The contest's result came down to a final shootout and Dave Hollow held his nerve to come through a 3-1 winner.

Marc Webber added a 126 checkout to Steampacket's 8-3 win at Victory A that saw all of the good work done in the individual phase.

George Beckett added a 17 darter to his 3-0 triumph before Reg Cornish was a 3-0 winner with a leg in 14 and a 180 helping him to a decent success.

A 123 outshot from Mike Trim couldn't arrest Fawn A's slide to a 6-5 loss at Bluebird A, for whom Jacob Bentham steered the win home with a 3-0 win in the final singles before which the scores were tied at 5-5.

Legends Lounge B's 6-5 win at Raffles B saw two moments of brilliance for the victors as Andy Malinowski's 17 dart leg in a 3-1 win was proceeded by a 95 checkout that settled Col Maddocks 3-2 success.

The main highlights for the hosts came in the form of Lee Dennis' 72 single visit combination finish and a 180 by Kev Doel.
