Hellings Compelling In Octagon's Premier Win

A truly remarkable eighteen tons from Lee Hellings heavily contributed to the Octagon A's 6-5 win over Bluebird C in the Monday Premier League.

The topsy-turvy game saw the Compton team lead three times before Alfie Ford's brace of 16 dart legs in a 3-2 final leg shootout win gave his team the win.

16 darts was the best of a number of short games for the Stonehouse team with Hellings adding a 17 dart leg in his 3-2 win whilst Paul Palmer won in 18 and 16 during his 3-1 success.

Palmer added all of his team's 180s with brace but his 120 checkout was usurped to the highest checkout of the week prize by teammate Simon Washington's 148 kill.

Dave Pethick also added an 18 darter on his own in his 3-0 win but as the score line suggests, the league's second placed team didn't have it all their own way.

Glenn Austin top scored for the defeated team with twelve tons and joined his regular sparing partner Glenn Halford in hitting a 180.

Halford added ten more tons to take his total to eleven whilst the Bluebird stalwarts both added a 14 dart leg in singles losses.

John Mann's fourteen tons, including a 123 checkout, helped the Tradesmans extend their lead to fifteen points as they defeated Victory B 7-4.

Mann also paired with Shaun Dring (30.82) to win a 601 doubles game 2-0 with legs of 20 and 19 darts during a close set of team games that ended 3-2 to the Stonehouse team.

Mann continued this superb form in the individual phase of play to produce a pair of 15 darters and a leg in 14 for a 3-0 win that yielded an average of 34.16.

Mann was ably supported by Mike O'Brien who reached twelve tons and notched legs of 18 and 17 in his 3-1 win individually.

A pair of 15 darters for Jaden Whitting helped him to a 3-0 singles win whilst Scott Cook was most prominent for the defeated Honicknowle team.

Cook added fourteen tons of his own and won his singles 3-1 with the help of two legs in just 15 darts, which helped keep the score more than respectable between two talented teams.

A 9-2 win for the King Billy over Octagon B was dominated by Andrew Cook who reached ten tons with the help of a maximum.

Cook also added a 16 darter in his 3-1 win whilst teammate finished in one visit from 95, an effort that was only beaten by a 110 from Octagon's Dave Wyatt in his 3-2 singles success.

Nathan Langdon top scored with twelve tons but finished on teh wrong side of a 7-4 defeat for the Union at Victory A.

Langdon's teammate Dave Hollow was also impressive with ten tons; a haul that was matched by Victory's Tony Conn.

Conn's two stablemates, Tony Tasker and Gary Collins, were both prominent in the singles phase as the pair notched 16 dart legs in their individual games.

The Cherry Tree derby match between the A and B teams ended within a 6-5 win for the B team that was accented by George Beckett's ten tons.

Beckett also added a 14 dart leg in his 3-1 win over Matt Nicholson who added the match's only maximum in the defeat.

Individual leader Danny Bull added ten tons for the Indian Inn in their 8-3 victory over Bluebird B, which also saw Bull's son Harry notch a 16 darter in his 3-1 win.

Bull's teammate Lee Wyatt bagged the high checkout honours with a 98 finish whilst Jamie Roberts produced an unfortunately rare moment of magic for the Compton team with a 180 in the loss to Harry Bull.
