Hiscox Rocks Kings Arms

Steve Hiscox thirteen ton plusses in Colebrook's Plymouth City Super League game led his team to a 7-4 away win at Kings Arms A.

Hiscox fine performance wasn't just about his power scoring as he also netted the shortest game of the night with a 16 darter in a 3-1 individual triumph.

The only notable contribution from the defeated Oreston side came in a doubles win for Pete Dunbar and his partner Pete Down; the former checking 84 in that particular win.

Both George Beckett and Dale Halford matched Hiscox tredecuple of three figure scores in 6-5 win for Beckett's Steampacket over Halford's Bluebird B.

Beckett's total was propped up by the game's only maximum and a checkout of 100 that wasn't bettered by any of the competitor's in Beckett's Devonport Friday night venue.

Halford's 3-0 individual win was accented by a 13 dart leg that bettered Beckett's 15 darter in a 3-1 win; both of which contributed to a closely fought battle that was left at 5-5 with one to play.

After the lead changed hands four times throughout the match, it was fitting that Tony Reid's 3-2 win would go to all five legs to give his team the spoils of a tightly contested battle.

An 11-0 win for Octagon was dominated by the scoring of Lee Hellings who was the fourth player of the night to put thirteen ton plusses onto the scoreboard in his Stonehouse team's win.

Hellings joined teammate John Mann in hitting the game's only maximum; the latter adding a brace of three treble visits to make it three on the night for the champions elect.

Those efforts contributed to a twelve ton personal haul whilst stablemate Neil White ploughed in eleven scores of a ton or more.

White's 97 checkout turned out to be crucial in a 3-2 success whilst the best leg of 501 of the match was provided from the arm of Dave Matthews with an 18 darter in his 3-0 success.

The quickest 1001 team game of the night saw Mann, Matthews and Alfie Ford (35.75) start the game like a train in the very first 'game on' call of the contest to plough in a 28 dart leg over that particular distance.

Scott Cook's 160 checkout was the highest of five three figure checkouts in a 10-1 win for Victory A during their visit to Fawn B.

Such was the form of Cook, his 135 was the next best as well; contributing to a personally tally of twelve three figure scores during the match.

Other admirable efforts came from teammates Paul Gavican and Cameron Pickard who added checkouts of 111 and 100 respectively.

The Greenbank side's only input to the exhibition of finishing came from Alonzo Marshall who put away 110 in a single visit in a 3-1 individual success.

Mark Shears was the game's only 180 hitter; an effort that proved to be the cherry on top of a ten ton plus personal haul.

Roger Backway's trio of maximums couldn't arrest Kings Arms B's slide to a 6-5 defeat in their visit to Raffles who themselves contributed three of the seven 180s put onto the scoreboard in the match.

Danny Bull netted two maximums whilst teammate James Ewing bagged the other for his team and the final effort came from Dave Johns who also checked 89 for the highest of the match.

The Oreston side were up by two three times in the match as leads of 3-1, 4-2, and 5-3 were overturned in the final leg of the match as Alec Turner won 3-2 in the final rubber to give the Mutley side a 6-5 result.

Victory B's 6-5 win over Victoria was lit up by the form of Adam Fell (25.74) as well as a 100 checkout from teammate Scott Hutchinson.

Another closely fought matchup saw Clifton make all of the running but still fall short in a 6-5 defeat away at Saltram.

Wayne Town and Dan Jewell added the maximums in the match whilst Niall McGarvey checked a leg in a single visit from 114.

Simon Stevenson's contribution of a 132 kill and the game's only maximum helped Fawn A to a 7-4 win over Victory B.

Jason Goldsmith can count himself a little unfortunate to not claim the high checkout honours; a three dart combination outshot getting him over the line in a 3-2 singles win.

Ian Heggie was the main protagonist of Ker St's 7-4 win over Hyde Park with a maximum and a 17 darter going his way in a 3-0 individual success.

Tony Teal's 180 and a modest 70 checkout from Glenn Halford were the main highlights of an 11-0 win for Bluebird A over Duchy B that saw all twenty-three legs played go the way of the Compton side.
