Hotchkiss Big Fish Makes A Super League Trio

The biggest rabbit of them all was pulled from the hat in the Plymouth City Super League for the third time this season as Neal Hotchkiss ploughed home a 170 in an 8-3 success for Steampacket over Victory B.



That effort beat a notable finish in the previous singles game from Sean Burkitt who posted a crucial 144 checkout in a 3-2 success.


Hotchkiss' teammate Marc Webber top scored in the with a his team's only maximum rounded off a personal ten ton haul, whilst Webber also checked a leg in 15 darts during a 3-2 defeat.



Scott Hutchinson was also in good nick during the match; winning his individuals 3-2 with the help of a maximum.


Roger Backway top scored with a remarkable seventeen three figure scores but still found himself on the wrong side of a 9-2 defeat as Kings Arms B were beaten by Fawn A.



Simon Stevenson led the charge for the victors with a ten ton haul that included one of two maximums for his team; Dave Roberts with a third 180 for his team.


Rob Oak joined Backway as one of only two winners for his team; a 3-1 success coming with the help of a 73 checkout that was highest recorded in the encounter.



Lee Hellings fourteen three figure scores was unbeaten in Octagon's 11-0 success at Saltram; a match that featured three impressive ton plus out shots.


John Mann's 74 paled into insignificance as Neil White posted a 103 in a 3-1 win before Hellings added a 106 to impressive ton total during a 3-0 success.



However, those had to settle for bridesmaid after Fred Goldsmith nailed a 151 in his 3-1 individual triumph to claim what was the third highest of the week.


Goldsmith added nine more tons to that effort for a ten three figure score haul whilst teammate Alfie Ford was also impressive with eleven ton plusses.



Whilst the three figure scores rained down at a relentless pace all night, the champions elect were equally brilliant at the business end of legs.


Hellings (26.84) bagged the best average of the match with two 18 darters contributing to his aforementioned win whilst teammates White, Mann and Goldsmith also contributed legs of note.



Mann's 3-0 success was littered with legs in 15 and 18 darts whilst White checked a brace of legs in 18 and Goldsmith claimed a 15 darter in his win.


Mann also teamed with Dave Matthews and Ford (25.67) for a 39 dart 1001 before Ford paired with Hellings (26.34) to go one better with a 1001 leg in 38 darts.



A second 39 dart game followed this in the final doubles as Goldsmith teamed with White for another 25.67 single dart average.


Mark Shears was the main protagonist in the Victory derby that saw Shears' A team defeat the Victory C 9-2 with Shears adding twelve three figure scores.



Shears was well supported by Tom James who added eleven ton plusses whilst Danny Allen threw a trio of maximums in the match.


Shears was most clinical at the business end of legs as he won 3-1 with legs of 17 and 18 darts, as well as an 88 checkout.



The defeated man in that particular contest, Jason Goldsmith, won his solitary leg with a three dart combination out shot from 127.


That bettered a 100 checkout from teammate James Smith whilst Al McIlhiney provided the C team's only 180 of the contest.



Greenbank's Clifton went down 7-4 in a local derby match with Raffles despite Wayne Town's twelve ton plus personal haul.


James Ewing shone for the victors with ten tons whilst teammates Harry Bull and Alec Turner added the only maximums of the match.



Turner also helped himself to the highest checkout of the match; a fine 110 single visit checkout that bettered 70 and 66 from Neil Holder and Dan Jewell respectively.


Eleven tons, a 96 checkout and a leg in 15 darts from Dale Halford led the way for Bluebird B to claim a 7-4 success over St Levans.



The defeated team provided all three of the 180s in the match with Harry MacGregor joining John Sturdy and Tex Pearce in achieving that particular feat.


Cherry Tree collected double figures in points with a 10-1 success over Fawn B, which was largely down to the form of Nick Miller who added eleven three figure scores on the night.



Miller's 3-2 singles success saw a what turned out to be a critical 15 darter whilst John Greatrex won 3-0 whilst hitting the only maximum of the contest.


Matt Anderson's superb 158 checkout did provide the defeated team some solace, but the Greenbank side might consider themselves unlucky after eight of the eleven rubbers were decided by a single leg.



A 9-2 success for Colebrook in their visit to Hyde Park was littered with ten tons from Dave Hollow whilst teammate Nathan Langdon's 115 checkout claimed the highest of this particular matchup.


Five 180s lit up King Billy's 9-2 Devonport derby win over Ker St with Antony Hayman adding the lion's share as he netted himself a trio of three treble visits.



Paddy Archibald added a fourth for the victors whilst Roger Bailey added a solitary effort for the Ker St whilst there was a number of impressive endings to legs in the match.


Lee Doncaster's 102 checkout in a 3-0 win was quickly followed by a 16 dart leg in a 3-1 triumph for Archibald whilst Hayman's whitewash 3-0 win contained legs in 18 and 16 darts.



Paul Goundry made it 8-2 with a 3-0 triumph with 18 and 17 darters accenting a very good phase of play for the reigning champions.


Duchy A were denied a fourth win of the thirty eight week long campaign so far by the narrowest of margins as Kings Arms A stumbled to a 6-5 win.



Darran Bailey provided the best of three magnificent finishes in the match as his 120 bettered teammate Dave Hickman's 104 and Jason Bruce's 91.


Seth Thompson's 123 checkout was the only moment of magic in a 10-1 success for Victoria over bottom side Duchy B.
