Hurry Up Harry, Come On

Harry Bull fired a magnificent eighteen three figure scores in the Plymouth City Super League A Division but still remarkably found himself on the wrong end of a defeat as Indian were downed by Kings Arms B 7-4.



Adam Fell was also in good nick with eleven tons whilst Danny Bull fired ten three figure scores including one of the five maximums plundered in the high quality affair.


Alec Turner put two of the 180s onto the scoreboard whilst the visitors from Oreston had both Roger Backway and Dave Johns hearing "180" called after throwing.



Backway added a top finish of 100 to his evening's work whilst the highest scoring player for the victors was Paul Carpenter who ended his night on eleven ton plusses.


Antony Hayman topped out at fourteen tons, which led King Billy to an 8-3 home success over Colebrook on their visit to Devonport.



Hayman wasn't the only double figure ton hitter in the match as Paul Goundry put up scores of a ton or more no fewer than ten times.


Mark Yeoman also showed his undoubted class with a maximum whilst Paul Palmer's 136 checkout was unbeaten on the night having bettered a 90 combination from Hayman.



Last year's runners-up were right at it from the first 'game on' call as Hayman, Goundry, and Palmer plundered a 1001 trebles in just 36 darts.


The remarkable standard continued in the individual phase as Hayman (28.90) checked legs in 15 and 18 darts during his 3-0 win.



Palmer (26.84) followed this up with a leg in 15 of his own during his 3-0 win whilst one of few moments of solace for the Plympton side came in the final individuals.


Dave Hollow's 16 and 18 dart legs proved crucial in helping him secure a 3-2 success that was one of two singles wins for his visitors.



Hollow was also the highest scoring player for the defeated team as he completed a twelve ton personal haul during that narrow triumph.


Octagon's 10-1 success over Steampacket saw three men dominate the scoring phase of play; most prominent of which was John Mann with thirteen tons.



Lee Hellings was also in good form with twelve tons whilst Neil White added one of the game's three maximums on his way to eleven ton plusses.


White's three treble visit came in a 1001 trebles leg that White, Hellings and Fred Goldsmith (32.29) netted in 31 darts.



Mann and teammate Dave Matthews (31.07) stepped up in the very next game to win their 601 doubles game 2-1, thanks in part to a Matthews 180.


That Matthews effort was in riposte to George Beckett's maximum whilst Matthews continued his good form into the individual phase as he won 3-1 with highlights being a 120 checkout and a leg in 18 darts.



Teammate Alfie Ford was also a 3-1 winner with an 18 darter also his best whilst Hellings leg in 15 ended up being crucial in a 3-2 triumph.


Beckett (27.83) got his team's only point of the evening, dispatching White 3-0 with legs in 17 and 18 darts for the best individual average overall whilst Mann's (25.05) notable effort in a 3-0 was a leg in 18.



A 7-4 win for Cherry Tree A in their visit to Bluebird B saw James Hughes added twelve three figure scores to the scoreboard.


The man Hughes defeated 3-2 in the individual phase, Wayne Oddie, added a 17 darter and the game's only 180 in the five leg thriller.



The icing on top of Nick Miller's ten ton tally was checkouts of 109 and 153, which was the highest of the week across both divisions of the league.


The larger of the two aforementioned checkouts came in a 2-1 doubles defeat that saw Miller and teammate Melvyn German put away 601 in just 21 darts.



Fawn A were joint biggest winners of the week with a 10-1 win over Saltram who had Liam Page checking out in a single visit from 102.


The highlight for the victors came from the arm of the veteran Mike Trim who showed their is life in the old dog yet with a maximum.



Chris Beale added a brace of maximums but still found himself on the wrong end of an 8-3 defeat as Victory were downed by James Stoodley's Bluebird A, for whom Stoodley fired a 17 dart leg in a 3-0 win.


In Division B, Simon Stevenson's fourteen ton haul led Cornwall Gates to a 9-2 win in their visit to Oreston and Kings Arms A.



On his long awaited return to Friday night action, Steve Rice showed that class is permanent with a ten ton haul that included one of the four maximums provided by the teams.


Col Maddocks added the St Budeaux side's other three treble visit whilst Mike Sant added a brace of maximums for the defeated side.



Andy Malinowski also had his scoring boots on with a ten ton tally whilst the Division B leaders were equally as impressive at the business end of legs.


Two of the legs won in a 3-0 win for Stevenson came in just 14 darts whilst Dan Bunney's 119 checkout was best of both the match, and all six fixtures played in the second tier.



All moments of magic in a 8-3 win for Kings Tamerton over Duchy A came from Paul Freeman who added a 96 checkout to his twelve ton haul.


Tex Pearce ended on eleven tons but still found himself on the wrong side of a narrow defeat as Hyde Park bested St Levans 6-5.



Pearce would've been stranded on ten tons if not for the only maximum of the match whilst teammate Harry McGregor checked 95 in a single visit for best out shot of the evening.


There was a ten ton haul for each side in Ker St's 7-4 win at Cherry Tree A as Paul Tackle's dectet was matched by Shaun Dring for the home side.



Tackle added two of the four maximums overall for his side with teammate Ralph Lancaster joining him to make it 3-1 in the 180 stakes.


Paul Hoare put the Pennycross side's only effort onto the scoreboard whilst Hoare also teamed with Heather Toney to net a 19 dart 601 leg in a 2-1 doubles defeat.



A 9-2 win for Clifton in their visit to Victoria saw four standout moments from three competitors as Mick Bingham checked a leg at in 18 darts during his 3-0 win for the defeated side.


Bingham's 92 kill was narrowly bettered by a 95 from Clifton's Kevin Seal whilst Bingham's teammate Aaron Wright added the only maximum of the match.



One of the teams now benefitting from the two league split are Fawn B who made it three wins from four starts with a 9-2 over Duchy B.


Despite ending on the wrong side of a heavy loss, Tom Green still had time to bag himself a 116 checkout that was the best of all thirty-two finishes in the match.
