John's Mann-oth Ton Total Downs Octagon

Vintage John Mann form led Fawn B to a magnificent 10-1 triumph over Octagon in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Mann's mammoth eighteen three figure scores included one of the four maximums in the match, as well as the joint highest checkout of the week of 130.

Opponent in the individuals, Robbie Bisgrove, pushed Mann to producing his brilliant best with a 100 checkout and one of the quartet who had a three treble visit in a 3-2 defeat.

Bisgrove may have ended the match defeated but his efforts put him on ten tons and one of the legs won against the dominant Mann came in just 14 darts.

It certainly wasn't all a one man mission as Mike O'Brien fired twelve tons including a 180 and Fred Goldsmith played his role in the supporting cast well with eleven three figure scores.

Dave Matthews was the third member of the Greenbank side to find a maximum whilst O'Brien's 3-1 success contained a 17 darter and Lee Agar's brilliant leg in 13 was the cherry on top of his 3-0 success.

Scott Wapshott's fourteen ton personal haul for Victory C put the wind the sails of an 8-3 win for the visitors at Kings Arms.

Wapshott's total included a joint highest checkout of week as he nailed a 130 in a single visit whilst Wapshott was well supported by Billy Evans who claimed ten tons.

Wapshott's brace of 18 dart legs helped him to a 3-1 win whilst Jason Pinkerton put a 180 onto the scoreboard, and a leg in 17, in a 3-1 success over Dave Johns who ended the night on eleven tons himself.

There was a second 17 darter for the Honicknowle side as Evans shot one in a 3-1 triumph whilst a 3-0 win for Phil Hoyle saw the second maximum of the contest.

Scott Cook's fourteen tons included three of the five maximums in a 9-2 win for King Billy away at Cherry Tree who had Dan Brazier in decent form with ten tons.

Cook's 180s were joined by a brace from Andrew Cook whilst Antony Hayman was in good nick with a twelve ton personal tally to drive the Devonport side's offensive.

Scott Cook's 3-1 success against Brazier came with the help of two 13 darters whilst Kyle Burden's win by the same score line was ticked over by a leg in 17.

Mike Pearce's thirteen tons in a 9-2 win for St Levans at Duchy wasn't bettered by any individual player; that total accented by three maximums.

Pearce's (28.36) 3-0 individual triumph contained legs in 18 and 15 darts whilst a second 18 darter of the match was found by Hayley Brant in another 3-0 success.

Pearce was well supported by family members in the win as brother Tex Pearce put eleven tons up and Tex's wife Anna Pearce heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than ten times.

Ryan Harris fired eleven tons, including a brace of 180s, but still found himself on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat as Victory Hammers fell to Fawn A.

Eleven tons from Ian Heggie lit up Indian Inn's 8-3 win over Ker St that also contain a 104 checkout from Heggie's teammate Mark Hatherley.

Three maximums were amongst the highlights produced by Victory A and Bar Mez in a 10-1 triumph for the former.

Paddy Archibald and Paul Goundry joined teammate Quinton Taylor in achieving that feat whilst Taylor's 3-0 individual success provided the best leg of the match in a 16 darter.

Paul Goundry was at something like his brilliant best during his 3-0 victory as he nailed a pair of legs in 18 darts during the final rubber of the game.
