John Shone In Another Octagon Rout

John Mann put a Plymouth City Super League wide top score of fourteen ton plusses onto the scoreboard in a 9-2 success for runaway leaders Octagon over Kings B.

Mann along with teammates Dave Matthews and Alfie Ford (27.05) started the victory how it would proceed with a 37 dart 1001 before Lee Hellings bagged the first of four 180s in a trebles win to make it 2-0.

Mann and Matthews (25.02) paired for a 40 dart doubles before Mann completed his fourteen ton haul in a 3-1 singles win that contained legs in 16 and 17 darts; Mann's opposition Steve Mayne firing an 18 dart riposte.

Hellings put away his opponent with the help of a 15 darter before Neil White reached ten tons against the Oreston side's thirteen ton man, Roger Backway.

White snuck the win 3-2 despite Backway firing legs of 16 and 15 darts, as well as one of two maximums on the night for his team.

Ford repeated White's five leg heroics in the very next game and completed his own ten ton haul; one of those aforementioned three figure scores coming in the form of a 108 checkout.

Ford's 18 dart leg proved crucial in the 3-2 success but wasn't the best of that particular rubber as Martyn Down fired a leg in 17 to go alongside a maximum.

At 9-0, the defeated side finally got some deserved respite their good play warranted as they took the last two games; the last particularly eventful.

Mark Bell won out 3-1; withstanding a Matthews 15 dart leg in the process as well as completing an eleven ton haul including the game's highest checkout of 121.

Glenn Halford's thirteen three figure scores provided the main catalyst behind an 8-3 win for Bluebird A over Saltram.

Halford wasn't the only man on form for the Compton side as James Stoodley fired two of three maximums for his team; Glenn Austin netting the other.

The cherry on the top of a 3-0 win for Lee Roberts was a 130 checkout that claimed the highest checkout of the week across all fixtures.

That bettered a critical 105 three dart combination out shot from Reg Matthews that allowed him to succeed 3-2 against Halford.

Thirteen ton plusses, including a 120 shot out, from Simon Stevenson helped his Fawn A team to a 9-2 win over Victory B.

Stevenson's teammate Dave Roberts (25.91) had a fine singles; winning 3-0 with a 17 darter and a maximum that was the biggest of a twelve ton personal tally.

Try as he might with twelve tons, Dave Hollow couldn't arrest Colebrook's slide to a 6-5 defeat at the hands of Steam Packet.

Hollow joined George Beckett in adding a maximum to the scoreboard; the latter winning the match for his Devonport team with a 3-0 win with the scores locked at 5-5 whilst also completing a ten ton haul.

Beckett's teammate Marc Webber also produced a moment of magic in the match with an 80 checkout that wasn't bettered by any of the players on display.

One of the outstanding players of his generation, Dale Halford put up a twelve ton plus tally to aid his Bluebird B team's progress to a 6-5 win over Victory A that also featured a Jamie Roberts 100 checkout.

The only noteworthy contribution from either team in a 9-2 win for Kings A over Victory C came from a Mike Sant 82 checkout in a 3-2 singles success.

In the race for runner's up, King Billy took advantage of that slip by Victory A with a 9-2 success over Cherry Tree that was dominated by Antony Hayman's ten tons.

Paul Goundry's 180 and a Lee Doncaster 78 checkout meant it certainly wasn't a one man mission to victory for the reigning champions who are now comfortably in second spot.

Ker St had Roger Bailey in good form with ten tons during a 7-4 win over St Levans which also featured moments of magic from both Ian Heggie and Anna Pearce with a 17 darter and 70 checkout respectively.

Steve Williams got Victoria over the line with a game deciding 3-1 win in a 6-5 success over Duchy A who had Jason Bruce checking 64 in a single visit.

Ben Welsh top scored with ten three figure scores but that didn't stop him from ending on the wrong side of a 7-4 defeat as Hyde Park were beaten by Fawn B.

Matt Anderson's 86 checkout proved crucial in a 3-2 singles success whilst Welsh's teammate Mike Trim fired a 17 darter for the lowest number of darts in the match.

Another moment of magic for the successful Greenbank side came from the arm of John Brady who provided the game's only maximum.

Raffles now have a healthy seven point lead of the chasing pack in fourth after an 11-0 whitewash win over Duchy B.
