King Billy Dominance Continues

Another top performance by John Mann, that included a 167 checkout, aided King Billy A to a 9-2 victory over St Levans in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Mann (31.98) hit the second highest possible checkout in an 18 darter and followed that up with legs in 14 and 15 for a 3-0 singles win.

Mann had to work hard for his win as his opponent, Devon captain Mike Pearce, reached double figures in tons for the evening.

Mann was supported well by Antony Hayman who notched sixteen three figure scores in the game.

However, Hayman was to end the night as one of the two losing players for the Devonport team as Shaun Dring defeated the former Devon man 3-1 on a night that the 'Silver Fox' claimed a 129 outshot.

The Keyham side's other point came from the hand of Tex Pearce who scored twelve three figure scores overall.

There was five maximums in total during the high quality affair with three going to 'Billy Boyz' Andrew and Scott Cook; the former hitting the lion's share.

The other two efforts were chalked up by Anna Johnson and Harry MacGregor for the defeated team.

Scott Wapshott (29.47) produced legs of 14 and 16 in his King Billy B team's 6-5 win over Torpoint Cons with those games beating Mark Shears leg in 17.

The pair also notched a 180 a piece with Mark Yeoman firing a third for the Devonport side whilst Paul Tackle replied with one of his own for the defeated team.

Fred Goldsmith top scored with twelve ton plusses for the Fawn B as they put Kings Arms to the sword in a pulsating 8-3 win.

Jaden Whitting also reached double figures in tons for the Greenbank team whilst Jodie Hawton won 3-0 partly thanks to a 17 darter.

Teammate Lee Agar (27.33) however beat that leg by one with a 16 darter in his brilliant 3-0 win.

Neil White was also prominent the game high checkout of 130 and the only maximum for the triumphant Fawn.

White however would go on to lose his singles to an in form Paul Palmer who hit a maximum of his own and a 15 darter in his 3-0 win.

The only other noteworthy contribution by the Oreston team was a 100 checkout in one visit from Dave Algar in a 2-1 doubles victory.

The biggest winners of week 29, Octagon, had Alfie Ford reaching eleven three figure scores in a 10-1 win over Cherry Tree.

Ford also paired with Jayden Dodd (33.39) for an 18 darter in the 601 doubles with both also helping themselves to a maximum on the night.

The other maximums went to Ralph Lancaster and Dave Pethick whilst Ford also claimed the high checkout honours with a fine 81 kill.

There was no fewer than six maximums in the A versus B Victory Inn Derby with both Kelvin Rowe and Danny Allen claiming a brace a piece.

Rowe's teammate Darren Collis also chalked one up whilst Tony Conn notched another for the B team in an 8-3 victory for the A team.

That win was contributed heavily to by Paul Goundry's ten three figure scores whilst despite finishing up on a roundly beaten team, Allen won all three games he played.

That effort was down to form that saw the 2021 Champion of Champions runner-up hit a 92 checkout and ten tons of his own on a good night personally.

Mark Sargeant reached ten tons as Fawn A got themselves a rare win in this league with a 7-4 victory over Indian Inn.

Sargeant rounded off a superb night personally with a maximum and the highest checkout of 143 whilst the Fawn marksman was backed up by Mark Hempsall's ten tons of his own.

It wasn't by any means all one way traffic with eight of the eleven games being decided by a final leg shootout whilst Mark Hatherley notched twelve tons and Louis Yates hit a maximum for the defeated team.
